Yea I can just see him putting down the track with his motor car and that little flat loaded with wire and tools in tow.

I like the acetylene lamp on the second motor car.

Yea that one rode harder than a lumber wagon I bet. Sitting right above the motor.

Oh, this would make for a good model.

That would make a pretty nice scratch building project. Just need to buy the wheels...

A couple of Frisco scenes on our fictitious layout: one with steam and the other with a couple of O / W locomotives exiting the only tunnel in the area of Texas we live in. The real tunnel is actually on the old FW&D line that branches from the mainline at Estelline and heads south. Estelline is two towns west on highway 287 from Quanah. Interesting bit of trivia that relates to the QA&P...the tunnel (named Clarity Tunnel) collapsed in 1957 (think that's the correct year). The FW&D attempted to purchase the QA&P to route traffic around the tunnel. The FW&D wasn't one of the ATSF's favorite railroads to work with so the Santa Fe nixed the deal.

I like the sunset above the MOW train. Looks a lot like Venetian blinds! Just like on my layout!

What’s those two apparently brass steam engines?

The one in the foreground is a fictitious QA&P 2-6-6-2; the background locomotive is a PFM / Toby Frisco 4-8-2.

I presumably set my layout on the gulf coast, but I have a tunnel too! It’s through the wall between the two rooms that the layout occupies. It’s called the Metairie Ridge Tunnel, because the area I live in is called Metairie Ridge. It’s a standing joke, because this whole area is flat as a board, and Metairie Ridge towers four or 5 feet around the surrounding area!!

Started on the backdrop this week. It needs lots more work, but it's a work in progress. Something about the lighting makes it look more blue than it really is.

That's some nice scenery, Paul. Very convincing (to me) of what that portion of Texas would look like.

What is the tan majority ground cover? Actual regional sand?

Yes, it's a mixture of dirt I've collected from several locations.

I thought so. It looks just like what I saw on a couple of long car trips through West Texas long years ago.
