    Fanning MO

A June 6, 1974 Crawford Mirror newspaper article that I have states that a short line branched off of the main at Fanning MO., and ran northwest to the Iron Ridge Mining Co. The article does not indicate when the line was built, or exactly how long it was, but states that it was dismantled in 1875 when the mining company sold out. I believe that you can still see the roadbed between Old 66 and Interstate 44 just west of Fanning.

I just recently learned of this but I can't tell where the tracks were. I am from Rosati, and my great aunt and uncle owned the store that was at Fanning. Can you tell me more specifically where this was in relationship to the houses and buildings along I-44 or 66? I'd like to see if it's visible from Springfield Road. It had to have crossed it too.

I'm from Cuba, and I pass this almost every day. Look just east of "RJ's" at the Hwy F overpass. Go past the Show-Me Power lot and look to your left side heading east. The ROW looks like an earthen berm in the woods running North. I think it has a cable across it. I've lived here my whole life, and I didn't know this existed until reading this thread got me out looking.

Thanks. I'll check it out next time I'm by there.
