This is all self explanatory as you read this. My Grandpa was a pall bearer "Doyle Cooper".
I got his story from my Uncle Jerry, but was confirmed by this report. I joked with my uncle Jerry in his later years that I bet the RR tried to beat the deceased out of one way of the trip.

Old rails never die... they continue to live in the hearts of their railroading offspring.

What a career he must have had. What was the date of his death?

Every time I took 1522 up Rolla Hill, I imagined Dad being in the cab with me. I don't know why, but there were a lot of little things that I did kind of "instinctively" when running. I'm sure it from his guidance. I only wish he had still been around to see 1522 running again.

I don't know Andre. I suspect early to mid fifties as Grandpa as not firing anymore in the late fifties. Yea what a career.

I know exactly what your saying Don, find myself doing that very thing as well.
