Hopefully, those that are much smarter on things Frisco will step in and elaborate. Here's my take on your question: First, what era are you talking? I'm going to assume you're talking the black and yellow era and not the red/light gray (white?)/red letters/silver trucks delivery scheme on the Baldwin switchers as seen here: I suspect you're talking the black and yellow years. That so, understand that there were some variations among the black and yellows schemes, at least on the Baldwin's, that may come into play, depending on your era. Consider this evidenced interim scheme the Frisco used during that short span of time they were trying to "find themselves" with their switcher scheme: In the above example, the small coonskin w/name sufficed for the identification. Also note that apparently the unit retained its silver trucks/under frame paint at this point. It is unknown to me when this scheme was applied, nor how many units received it, or how long it survived. I suspect, though, you're talking about this scheme sans silver trucks: IF the above font and black and yellow scheme is what you're asking about, that scheme and font survived on some of the EMD switchers and possibly all of the Alco switchers well into the 60s and for the EMD's maybe even into the 70s? As for font style: Looks to me like a standard "RR Roman" font. (i.e. not a "extended/stretched" type RR Roman font.) That being the case, such decals (Alphabets and numbers) are available from several suppliers in several different heights (points). Andre
Not sure if this will make it better or worse. They have been released before. Here is a sheet but I am not sure who made it. Looks like the light yellow K4 uses. Check them or Mask Island.
I checked both Mask Island and K4 and they don't have a set with Roman lettering. Both have sets with the Gothic lettering
Hmmmm. Maybe those are old Oddballs or something? Sorry. Good luck, show us what you make if you do print some. Steve
I'm sending an order to my printer with color samples to see hoW it turns out. I print by customer order not for stock
Jerry, Oddballs made 87-773 which is a set that is red Roman lettering for the earliest Frisco Diesel Scheme (Blue over White over Blue with Red Lettering with Silver Underframe).
