Does anybody live near Hillsdale, Kansas?

I will be going to Hillsdale on Tuesday December 15, day after tomorrow. Will get there about 2 and will be there for several hours I'm sure. The plan is to strip the caboose (1292) of quite a few parts for use on 1288. 1292 has been heavily modified and altered to the point that a restoration would be a massive undertaking to say the least, trucks are missing and I think sections of the body have been cut out. If anybody lives near Hillsdale, it would be fun if you have a chance to drop by and visit, I always enjoy learning things from fellow Frisco enthusiasts. The bbq restaurant is now defunct and the owner is selling the property.

 

Got some great parts gathered from 1292, one end window in the aluminum frame that was only found on 1285-92, some end platform extension, some end platform handrails, a large chunk of the corner section of the roof, and a complete working coupler. Was happy to get the parts. Poor ol 1292 is in pretty rough shape so I had no second thoughts about cutting on her. Thanks Kent Hurley for checking on the parts last year. And thanks Keith Robinson for taking us on some layout tours while we were in the KC area.
