Rich - First of all, welcome to the group. I'm not sure we see too many folks from California on here - guess it's usually ATSF or Espee territory. If anyone around here is prototypically accurate for a given piece of motive power on a given date, then my moneys' on Don. Generally, I'd guess that, in the late Frisco steam era, they would have gone with the black roofs on all motive power. I can't find any photos of 1068 either with or without skirting that would indicate a red roof, but the nice think about modeling is that you can add it if you want to do so. Best Regards,
