I love that our forum has information on each locomotive on when it was purchased, retired, etc, but having to jump from post to post to gather information can be tedious. On top of that, the formatting can make it difficult to sift through the data that is available. A while back, I came across an excel file that someone started here: http://frisco.org/shipit/index.php?threads/comprehensive-list-of-frisco-emd-f-unit-numbers.9805/ A spreadsheet is the best way to organize this type of information. So, I started with what that file had and added what it was missing. What we now have is a single excel file with at least basic information on every diesel that the Frisco owned. When you open the file, it should open to a totals worksheet. It has every locomotive in a single list setup in a table that makes it easy sort and filter. For example, I could filter it to only show units received in 1961 and retired in 1961 and it would instantly show me the 8 units sold for the first batch of U25B's. For now, it does not have information on what roads and numbers the locomotives went on to after their life with the Frisco. Maybe some day I will have time to fill that out, but it will be a long project to update that.
Ethan, one detail I would like to point out; EMD E8A #2022 was built as Middleground and later renamed Champion after discovery that "Middleground" was copyrighted. See this interesting post: http://www.frisco.org/shipit/index....1950s-diagrams-1-emd-e-units.2939/#post-71305
Good catch Keith. The original author of this file put the E8s in, and I didn't think to double check that.
