    Factoid:

That is the original depot built by the Fayetteville and Little Rock (F&LR) Railroad when it still had aspirations to conquer the rugged mountains between Fayetteville, AR and the Arkansas River.

The F&LR apparently intended to turn south just west Combs, AR near the location of Brashears, and head south for Fly Gap, then descend to the Mulberry River Valley and follow one of the water courses to, and over, the next hump.

After passing Combs and reaching "Scully", near current Brashears, the F&LR was purchased by the Frisco. The Frisco altered thes destination to reach St. Paul, AR then eventually Pettigrew, AR and that was the terminus for the duration of the St. Paul Branch.

The St. Louis mileage figures on the depot sign indicate Frisco ownership by the time the photograph was taken. The fact that the depot pictured was originally built by the F&LR makes this the one and only picture of the original depot.

Even more historical, to say nothing of its rarity.

Given the line-up of folks in the image, and the lack of depot details, I inclined to believe that this is section house dwelling.

It would seem the the wives and kids have been posed to see off their section hand fathers and husbands before they set off for a day’s work.

Possibly, but I cannot recall ever seeing a picture of a section house dwelling with a station name board with mileage figures as per a depot.
