I've been in Southwest Missouri the past few days and made the approximately 6 1/2 mile hike between Wishart and Missouri Highway U just south of Bolivar. I took a few pictures and I'll try to get them posted in the appropriate place over the next few days. Here's some pictures of bridge 163.4 on the Clinton Subdivision. This is the longest bridge between Bolivar and Springfield at 317'. This area between Bolivar and Springfield is now part of the "Rails to Trails" program. Hope this is useful for anyone wanting to model a Frisco a pile trestle bridge.
Thank you Dricketts. I love trestles and plan to have at least two on my layout. They are always a welcomed sight. I wish I could develop a system that would sway the trestle slightly side to side as they do naturally. That would be all too cool! Nice pictures. Thanks for taking the time to take them. Manny
I missed you by a week. I went up and photographed these bridges on Saturday, April 9. I will post a few photos later. I photographed all four of the tall trestles around Wishart, without taking notes, now as I look back at the photographs it is hard to tell the bridges apart. I have added a few more "modeler's" shots of this bridge. These just beg to be modeled. There are four of these tall pile trestle bridges within a two mile stretch near Wishart on the Frisco Highline Trail. They are easily viewable from the parallel road for those that are not into hiking or biking. My first photograph is looking west down the south side of the bridge. Second photograph is looking west down the north side of the bridge. Last photograph is looking at the east abutment from the northeast side of the bridge. Dale Rush
