Please see the following link for a photograph of Frisco caboose SLSF ????.

This is one of the Frisco built, steel frame, wood side, straight side steel cupola cars. Most unfortunately, the car has been vandalized and subjected to an arson fire. In the photograph the car framing clearly shows.

We need to verify this car's Frisco identity. Anyone with information or photographs is encouraged to add to our knowledge.

It is located in the city park north of the intersections of Altman Street and 4th Avenue (a/k/a US Highway 11, a/k/a Alabama Highway 7). The car is west of the intersections of Marcus Street and Park Avenue.

York, AL is the east central portion of the state on the former Alabama, Tennessee and Northern (AT&N) Railroad. After the 1948 acquisition by the Frisco the former AT&N line became the Mobile Subdivision.

We need to redouble our concerted effort to document each Frisco caboose. This is the second wood Frisco caboose subjected to an arson fire this year. The other car burned was SLSF 752, at Cook Station, MO. Truly a sad state of affairs that persons would destroy the community's and our history.

The car is located at 296 4th Ave., York, AL.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!
