I was fortunate enough to get to spend a couple of days with some ICC Valuation maps including those for the Little Rock and Texas (LR&T) or Frisco's Mansfield Branch.

The maps are large, far to massive to post here but I did crop out a section from a scan of one which answers a few questions that I have previously asked, and of course created some new ones.

This is taken from map "Little Rock & Texas V1 AR 3". This is the first accurate map that I have found showing the uphill switchback to Dallas #8 Mine at Burma, AR.

In addition it provides a little more information about the "depot" at Burma. Turns out, at least at the date, not given, that the map was drawn, the depot at Burma was a boxcar.

Dating the map is difficult, the last date noted on it is the right-of-way for the former Williams Spur which is marked "track taken up 9-2-11 AFE T.165". In my opinion, the internal data suggests a date of approximately 1916 at the latest.

A box car, apparently the same one, appears on the Frisco Valuation "chaining" chart which is dated March 20, 1918, but in the latter case it is only identified as a 32' box car, its use as a depot apparently having ended.

    Great find, John!

Thanks so much for sharing it.

I am pleasantly surprised that "my" Burma and the switchback on my virtual version matches pretty darn close by using the descriptions and Google map illustrations you shared with me years back.

The above plat map duly saved to my "Arthur Sub" folder!
