Boston Mountains Sub-Division

Where do I find track schematics for Frisco towns, is there a sub forum? Looking for one that would be good for my HO time saver layout that will go on top of N scale overhead valence. The layout area is 16 inches wide and about 28 feet long U shaped.

If you have a suggestion for a particular town please let me know.

I've decided to model Ft. Scott for the HO layout, it has a nice size yard that will be downsized a bit and a turntable along with some interesting industries. The other end will have a Wye so locomotives can be turned.

I did a Google search for the Ft Scott Depot floor plans and found one but it's too blurry to see the dimensions. Does anyone have clear drawings and a head on photo of the depot?

Last night I finished building the steel trestle towers, now they are ready to have the main span attached. The towers will have to be shortened a little bit when I'm ready to install the trestle on module 08. Right now they are 7.75 inches tall and if I remember right they need to be about 4 or 5 inches tall.

This afternoon I painted the steel trestle primer red. Will put it all together when I'm ready to install it on module 08.

I received a box with 31 Atlas turnouts, track, bridges and ten small packages of neat stuff that I purchased from a friend on trainboard. He is a BNSF fan and I'm going to send him a Frisco railcar since Frisco is a heritage railroad.

Cynthia and I moved into a new two bedroom apartment last week in Broken Arrow about two miles from our other place. The layout room measures 13ft 4in long and 9ft 8 1/2in wide, our bedroom is the same length and 9ft. 11in wide. Will have to cut two or three inches off module 06 and move the mainline tracks a little bit. For some reason there is a slight down slope on the south end of the module and one time ran a small train and when the locomotive got to one spot it fell over on its side. So the tracks needed to have work done anyway. Reminded me of Arty Johnson on late 60s TV show Laugh In where he would fall over riding a tricycle. The overhead lights valance between modules 04 and 07 will have to be shortened about the same.

We have the basic needs here and a lot of stuff still in storage and will try to bring a load home each day so we're not overwhelmed with boxes. We're not in any hurry to move everything at this time.

I can see some scratch building time coming in the near future, such as the coal mine and sawmill for module 08. They are interchangeable to add variety during operations. Time to setup my TV tray workbench and get back into modeling again, it's been way too long.

Tonight I'm building the frame for the coal mine using 1/8 inch balsa. It is 5 inches long, 2 1/2 wide and 1 1/2 tall. Will use 0.060 by 0.010 styren stripes for the sidings and will set on 1/8 inch dowel rods about 3/4 inches tall. It's for module 08 and will be interchangeable with the sawmill which I will build the frame tomorrow evening, the same siding will be used.

I got the coal mine frame partially done tonight and will do the roof frame in the morning. Then hopefully start the sawmill frame tomorrow evening. Will give you guys the final measurements when completely finished.

It took me longer to cut the pieces than expected because my Xacto blade is dull, I forgot to pick up some more when I was out today. Senior moment.

I finished the coal mine frame this afternoon, it's final dimensions are 5.2 inches long, 2.5 wide and 2.2 tall. The card stock base is 7 by 3 inches and will use card stock with fine grit sandpaper on the roof to represent tar paper. Next will add dowel rods below, only problem is the ones saved are in one of ten boxes of train stuff in storage. So will get more from Cynthia's cleaning kits used to take care of her trec. It will take awhile because there's only two in each kit which will make about eight poles.

Cynthia has a doctor appointment on December 20th to take a test to see if they can permanently remove her trec.

Next project is building the frame for the sawmill.

Finished the sawmill this evening, it's 7 inches long, 4 wide and 3.8 tall. Will use brick pattern styrene for shingles on the roof.

Next project is drawing track plans for HO Ft. Scott and Beyond layout.

Last night I made a template to make bents for coal mine and started cutting the poles and cap beams.

Also picked up a trailer to move stuff from storage to our apartment and one item will be module 05 the Arkansas River Bridge to repair damage on the brown section. May have to replace the side trusses, luckily the kit has extra trusses.
