Woo Hoo! Full speed ahead my friend. I like watching a layout project come together.

Tonight I installed roadbed on modules 02 and 03 for the passing track and yard. Next will be to tie them together where the turnouts go.

Tomorrow I plan on installing track and on all five lines. Just have to find my turnouts.

While looking for turnouts found the timer that I made to control lights in the buildings. I used Masonite for the main structure and the cams, R/C car gears, four pieces of all thread, six roller switches and a one RPM motor. I'll have to test it again to find out how long it runs before it repeats. There are six channels of lights that turns on and off at different times.

Very nicely engineered timer, Joe. I have one that was commercially made that has 16 channels and each channel can be programmed with different ON/OFF times and durations.

I'm going to set up a demonstration of how the timer works by putting some grain of wheat light bulbs in a couple of buildings. I'm not sure how to load a video so will look for how to threads on this website. It may take a few days to get the setup done. Stay tuned.

    Joe,
An amazing piece of workmanship. I doubt the most folks under 30 would understand the concept of it!
I looked at it a long time just admiring the engineering that went into making it!

I have to see it in action sometime.

    Thanks for sharing,
    Dale

Thank you Steve and I Dale!!! As you can tell I like to tinker around with what may be junk to some but it is a treasure to me. I also have a turntable that is powered by a hand crank and uses a 6:1 gearbox from a mini blind to rotate the table. I'm trying to add a motor to run most of the way and then make fine adjustment with the hand crank.

Joe, you might consider connecting a mobile decoder to a motor to drive that 6:1 gear box and program the decoder with very low speed table. You could then assign your DCC throttle to the turntable decoder;s address and control speed and direction of the turntable to bring it into alignment with tracks. There are motors with gear reduction boxes on them that would slow it down more if necessary.

Keith, I don't have a DCC system, just DC.
After I build the most expensive part of my layout will make the switch to DCC.

Last night I started installing track on module 04 and laid out tracks on modules 02 and 03. Also I took photos of my Atlas turnouts, a power supply that was built in 1973 during my Junior year of high school in Technical Electronics, Frisco decals and the mechanical system for the turntable. I was wrong about the turntable gearbox, it is a 9:1 ratio, not 6:1 like I said before.

    Joe,

Where did you graduate HS from? I was a junior in 73.

We had VO-AG or Woodshop to choose from at Owasso.

    Thanks,
    Dale

Dale, I graduated high school from Owasso in 1974. Did we go to school together? In the mornings I went to Vo-Tech and only had two hours in Owasso high, English and Chemistry my Junior year and one class, English, my Senior year.

Yup, we did! Class of ‘74. I didn’t do vo-tech. I did the one that was done at the school. I only went half-days in senior year. Worked the other half at the DX up at German Corner.

Yes!!! We did go to school together. My best friends are Paul Green and Donna Evens. I don't remember you but what teachers did you have? My English teacher was Beverly Arnold, wouldn't be funny if we were in the same class?

My parents and I lived at 14208 E. 126St. North. Where did you live in Owasso?

Edit: added comment of where parents lived.

You will know where this is; I lived in the barn house by the Santa Fe crossing on 116th. I actually own it now. My parents are gone. I still have to mow it every week just like HS....
You were on the other side of the old highway.

I didn’t have Arnold for English. I can’t remember who it was. But I bet you had Mr. Baker for chemistry. I had him for biology and aeronautics. He was a neat guy. I liked the way he would tap his pointer on his desk when something he was talking about would be on a test.

I looked us up in my old 74 yearbook. We have got butt old!!!! LOL

I don't remember who my Chemistry teacher was, it wasn't Baker, I had a female.
Didn't know Owasso High had an aeronautical classes, I would have loved enrolling in it, who knows, I may have worked for Boeing right after high school.
