BNSF 4273, a Dash 9 C-44W led the morning eastbound freight. The lower left side of the cab carried the white logo lettering for "Microsoft Train Simulator." Unfortunately I carried a Miracle Grow applicator rather than a camera and besides it strains topic relevance to post this even though the train was running on the former Rolla Sub towards the Lindenwood Yard.

    George -

We were driving west out I-44 Sunday after lunch on The Hill at around 2:30pm when we came upon a container stack train moving out of Lindenwood on the Rolla sub. He was rolling at ~10-15 MPH but as we passed by the cars on I-44, more and more of them appeared up ahead - it just didn't end. We got off the highway at Elm without ever seeing the head end power. To me, that was a hugely long stack train for these parts. Do you recall seeing it pass by your abode?

I recalled what my BNSF VP acquaintance said once as we were sitting together flying back from Mexico City to Dallas in about 2003-2004: "Check our stack trains. Most all of our cars carry a double stack. Then check out a UP stack train. Far too many of their cars are only single stacked." Sure enough, most were doubles!

I vaguely recall one that passed by after I returned home from "The Hill" myself but did not notice the length. Maybe that was because I was at home rather than waiting at the crossing. :)
