Folks and especially River Division experts: Public Timetable from April 1937 shows the aforementioned trains with daily motor car service between Blytheville, AR and Jonesboro AR. <table border=1><tr><td>#899</TD><TD></TD><TD>#898 </TD></TR><TR><TD>Lv</TD><TD>Station</TD><TD>Ar </TD></TR><TR><TD>1:15 PM</TD><TD>Blytheville</TD><TD>11:59 AM </TD></TR><TR><TD>2:23 PM</TD><TD>Ar Leachville</TD><TD>Lv 10:55 AM </TD></TR><TR><TD>2:23 PM</TD><TD>Lv Leachville</TD><TD>Ar 8:34 AM </TD></TR><TR><TD>3:35 PM</TD><TD>Ar Jonesboro</TD><TD>Lv 7:30 AM</td></tr></table> Questions: (1) Does anyone know what motor cars were assigned to this line? And, were they still in operation in the early 1940s (I do not have my 1941 River Div. ETT handy)? (2) I'm a bit puzzled as to the almost 2 1/2 hour layover at Leachville for #898? I do show that #812 daily between Kennett and Leachville arrived at the latter at 10:50am, perhaps allowing for a transfer to #898 and onto Blytheville. That's the only plausible explanation that I can find. (3) A bit of a digression, but if anyone has steam-era photos of the Blytheville AR passenger depot, I'd be interested in seeing - please contact me off-list or share you photo on the Frisco Resource Center Frisco Resource Center) Regards, Chris Abernathy Columbia, MO (Modeling the Frisco's River Division in HO-Scale c. 1943)
Chris, sorry for the delay, my computor blew up and I'm slowly coming back up to steam. Luckly I had 99.8% of my Frisco stuff backed up on floppies. Anyway, my 5/40 timetable show the doodlebugs still in service, however the layover at Leachville for #898 was adjusted to 7:49-10:15AM. I think I have a 1943 TT somewhere unless I donated it to the Mammoth Springs depot, I'll have to look. As for what was assigned I don't know other than a photo of #2100 in Frisco Southwest Pg.96 taken 10/29/29 @Jonesboro, AR. I'm assuming that it ran on the old JLC&E since Jonesboro was served by many standard passenger trains. Or it was possibly running on the Jonesboro-Bono-Algoa run at the time which my 1926 TT shows as #259 SB and #258 NB without the motor car daily note. That's all I can add. Roger
Roger, thanks for the info. If you still have the 1943 TT,I'd relish seeing it in full on the Resource Center (if scanning isn't doable, please contact me and I'll be glad to make arrangements for a copy)--Chris.
Chris, after checking I don't have the 1943 TT. I gave a whole box of Frisco stuff to the Mammoth Springs depot 10 years ago, I think my reasoning was I only need 1 of each decade so donate the rest. I seem to remember a 1945 TT went with the 1943 one. The only TT's I have are 1926/37/40/64 public TT + the 1970's division employee TT's. Sorry! Roger
