After shooting the steam engines, I went over to the Southern's 37th Street Yard to catch the inbound Birmingham Special from Washington, DC.

There I found one of the new Alco switchers leaving with a transfer to Findlay Yard on the north side of Birmingham.

And then came a "special" treat, the Birmingham Special was carrying a Frisco business car back to Birmingham from the Inauguration of President Eisenhauer.

I do not know how, but I have completely missed this thread over the years.

I do not have enough words to describe how impressed I am with how detailed this layout is in every category, from scenery to operations to history. I have this bookmarked now for inspiration whenever I get to the scenery part of my layout 10 years from now.

The element I am looking at the hardest to start with is the partially hidden staging area. I am cooking up something similar for Kansas City on my layout, so I am definitely taking notes on how you set up yours.

    Ethan,

Look also at the Camellia Park, Alabama and the Quinton, Alabama threads.

They are different parts of the same layout.
