The Big Bend Railroad Club in Webster Groves has been occupants in a 1910 Frisco depot since a few months after their beginning in 1938. In 1994 they bought the building to save it from scheduled demolition. After receiving a 501(c)(3) in 2000, we have been actively trying to make as many repairs to the depot as we can. Some of the repairs are too expensive for us to handle, especially the roof. Although this donation award we are trying to win won't come anywhere near the estimated $55,000 for a new roof, it will be a substantial beginning and seed money for more donations and grants. We need at least 100 LIKES on the following link before June 28 to be considered by the judges. Please help us out and pass this information on to your friends. Latest email from Big Bend Club. For those of you who have already gone to our entry on Stay Classy Award and clicked on the LIKE button, we thank you. However we are still a few votes short from qualifying for the next round of judging. With a little more than two weeks to go, we need at least 100 people to LIKE our entry before June 28 to have a chance to get to the next level. Check the following link and make sure your LIKE was registered on our story and let your friends know how they can also help us. We know that anything we would win in this program will fall far short of the estimated $55,000 to replace the roof of our depot, but it will help with the other repairs. Our depot officially turns 101 on June 18 and we, our local community and friends want the building to last another 100 years. A reminder that because of us being in the depot since 1938, and purchasing it in 1994, the depot has been in continuous use since it opened in 1910. The local business district has helped us recently by paying for the repainting of the building, as well as the Webster Groves' Parks Department recently planting new trees around our building.
