I am undecided, I installed my backdrop, I thought I wanted as much sky as I could get. I put the ground level, about 2 inches above ground level or the top of the benchwork. I can still lower it, my plan was to build up with foam and trees and brush. What did you do? What are the issues? William Jackson

Jim, those look really nice. I seen the original post, and remembered seeing it. Guess I was wondering if the land in the backdrop is at the same height as the rail. If not, how much, did you go above top of rail? My layout will be like going through a cut. I am just wondering about what issues have been a problem. Thanks for your input. Aw shucks. Thanks but it's very easy to do. You just need to figure out about what your viewing angle will be and use some cheap craft paint to start stippling the trees and so forth. I cover the very back, where the backdrop meets the ground, with foliage where possible. If you screw it up just repaint with your sky color and try again. Of course my backdrop is removable and easy to handle. Is yours?
Jim, I can take mine down fairly easy, this makes me feel a little lame. I don't no why I thought the bottom of the backdrop had to be the bottom of the scene. Now I know, I will just free hand paint the valley of the land scape. How simple that seems, it's good, we have folks, to bounce our thoughts off of. See I bought one, actually three sections from Scenic King. It is really nice looking, but I didn't think of painting a little lower in the valleys. Bill Jackson
Sounds like you have a plan, Bill. Here's a shot of my winter side of the backdrop. It's all just theatrical visual trickery. I just try to create a general impression and not add any detail to the backdrop painting. I still need to add my fake fur ground cover which will end at the backdrop. The color will blend in well. Some trees will be up against the backdrop so I painted the area that will be behind them a very dark blackish color to suggest the dark winter forest goes on in the distance. Take digital images and study them as you go. Make changes on the fly so to speak. Post pics on this forum so that we can see your progress.
