Before I started my current 1950's switching layout I was trying to find a venue for a layout using Bachmanns 4-6-0 and 4-4-0. I just could'nt find a Frisco line that offered enough switching opportunities. But I was also concerned about the capabilities of these two small engines; low speed operation, stalling on turnouts, etc. Does anyone have experience with either of these locomotives.

I'm not changing from West Bottoms, I just saw a picture in RMC on a ten wheeler on a turntable and was having second thoughts. Got to stay focused on current project.

My Bachmann Spectrum 4-6-0 high boiler version is smooth running and capable of very slow speeds and does not stutter in the least over micro engineering turnouts and Atlas turnouts. It has good heft and is a capable puller. I can't comment on the Bachmann Spectrum 4-4-0 other than the placement of the drivers looks awkward and gives it an "east coast look" to me. The Bachmann 4-4-0 old timer can be modernized through detailing and tweaked to be a great running little loco. Do a search for "zalma branch" and "4-4-0 project" to see my effort.
