Very nice Tom - the water looks terrific. I'm ready to jump in ..... with that gal down at the end!

I could tell a U-boat was coming - chug chug chug!

Guess I'll go downstairs and start dismantling.
Excellent modeling, scenery and "scene". The flasher is a nice touch, saw a couple of them from 1522's cab. One near Sullivan I wish I could unsee and one from Texas that was incredible.
I had a ton of Best Buy rewards points accumulated and last time in I saw a little JVC HD cam that's made for clipping on your helmet or whatever, is shockproof, waterproof and all. I've built a camera car for it and am experimenting with it. Hope to post some pix of it and some video one of these days.

Whoa Don, now lets not take the wrecking bar to anything here:) Your MRR is a world class outfit, your scenery and about everyone else s, is better than mine. That is interested in the camera thing your talking about now that would be cool. I have seen some pretty wild and weird stuff on these rivers thru here I'm tellin ya.

Ken Thanks for noticing that little detail too! I knew I could count on you:D

Tom G. Thanks, I still like running calabooses for sure. I have a few ETD cars but they just dont have the character that the good old crumb boxes.

    Thanks Guys,

I have been stuck at a certain point for a long time and need to force myself to get back to work. I only have scenery at the east end of Newburg and partially up Rolla Hill.
I did a complete trip around the layout with the camera, but the file is 1 GB in size. It's 1080 full Hi-Def. I don't know how I could post it at that size. I really don't have any video software to size it. I guess I could set the camera at lo-res and see how big it would be.

If anyone uses Dropbox, I have posted the video in a folder called IC2800. I'm not sure what's involved on your end to access it. Charlie may have the answers. I have two friends with which we ship stuff back and forth.
The file is 1GB and is over 9 minutes.
I'm going to do some more tweaking and will post photos of the camera and camera car soon.

I think you have to share the Dropbox folder with people by user ID. See this page.

Tom, I have purchased from Prantle before .. They are very good, and quick.
i really like the water effect. You just never cease to amaze me with your layout and motive power.
that train looks so good crossing the bridge and I love the fact that it has a caboose on the end.
Every time I see a train nowdays, I keep thinking they lost something somewhere.

Thanks guys, I have done bidnes with them a few times and they are great to deal with and very quick to ship. Could not find what I was looking for there and they were out of the country doing volunteer work in South America. Having said all that, I was sent these 2 links to some raft options available in HO scale.
I have one on the way.
    Thanks again

It amazes me that so many detail items can be found in HO scale. We are so lucky.

Yessir I would say so. The trouble is how to ask for what your looking for on occasion. :)

    Thank you Sherrel
I did a couple experiments with commercial water products but was not happy with the price or looks of some of that stuff.
Just like you guys have told me, At the end of the day, you just gotta get into the project and get er done.
That gloss gel was the ticket and was just lucky enough to have a bunch of coats under it for the last coat.
I would put the gel coat on even thicker in the future as it too dries and smoothes itself a bit when drying.
Your GP35 is in for a 92 day FRA inspection or it would have been there too :)

Still at that miserable scenery thing, working on the main yard now and when I get more done will post some more pics. The hump and bowl tracks as well as arrival/ departure tracks have all been a challenge to get done, and not have it all look the same. Tried using different colored ballast on different tracks to break it up a little and simulate a track being reworked and new Slag used, painted the ties, rail and all that. Used many ties to simulate a few crossings around the hump tower, still have about 30 ft to go before the proverbial link up, and have a very basic hard shell all around the layout.
Here are a couple shots of the ready tracks just down from the Yard Tower. Tried some sand, looked way to clean, but after adding the oil leak spots from many consists waiting on their crews, it came out a little better, I hope.
Anyway still a long way to go.
    Thanks for looking

That looks very realistic. I think you're doing an excellant job. A very fitting environment for your quality rolling stock.

Looks like most yard/lead tracks I have ever seen. Great work! It is typical, however, the thing you like the least, turns out good!

I went on You Tube and saw Don Wirth's video using a small camera. What a great sound. What steam engine was on the point and what sound decoder was used? Don you need to get going again!

Thanks Jim! Thats a nice thing to say my friend, as always I appreciate your efforts and comments.

Dan, I have done a few laps around the consists on the beach track, doing that proverbial air test too :) I can hear the sand blowing as I type this.

    And Thanks Sherrel,

Yep, those ready tracks were more like a beach than tracks after many years of power in emergency or the sanders on, just doing the air test will deposit a bunch of sand too, as well as a host of other reasons. I wanted to try and pile it up up but it just didn't work for me this time.

Tom, both you and Jim are inspirations to the rest of us. You both are very good at creating the look and effect. Where did you get the sand?

    Tom,

I'm a little late responding, but that's as nice a line up of Frisco motive power as you will find, absolutely top notch!
