I believe that this class of 0-6-0's was the first class of switchers on the Frisco to get its firebox above the drivers, and therefore enjoy a larger grate area. This class utilized a crown bar firebox, which reduced boiler circulation and caused increased scaling. It was not used much (on new locomotives) after the turn of the century.

During the latter years, 3671 was a Ft Scott engine and the rest of the class could be found working in Springfield.
