Just for grins, I thought I'd post photos of the representative classes of Frisco freight cars from my 1950 era fleet. In this era, the railroad was trying to replace its worn-out fleet of old wooden prewar and "wartime emergency" wood+steel cars with modern all-steel units. The freight trains were quite distinctive as a result. This will take a couple of posts to accommodate. Enjoy. Ken McElreath
My Frisco passenger cars are fairly well shown at various points in the "Camellia Park" HO general topics thread, but I suppose that I could take portrait shots of all of them as I did the freight cars. I find the portrait shots less interesting. The freight cars didn't show up much in the general layout photos as the passenger cars did, so I decided to photograph them individually. Ken McElreath
Ken, It's a splendid, worthy chronicle of your freight car fleet. I've never given much thought to modeling the Frisco pre/post-receivership transition, but the combination of car types and "Frisco Lines" versus straight "Frisco" branding does add quite an interesting visual element.
