Did anyone here purchase the Frisco 1276 caboose slide on ebay a couple of days ago? Beautiful slide showing 1276 in near new condition. I sometimes want to bid on these slides but I don't want to bid if other members are bidding. I saved the image to my computer, but it would be a great image to see on the archive. the 1276 caboose survives today and is on display in Brookfield Missouri. 1276 is still in really nice condition, not my favorite color (green) lol, but at least they are keeping it looking good.

I think next time I will post the auction and ask the question before the auction ends. I have seen many of them I wanted to buy, and then they show up on the Archive so I think "glad I didn't buy that one, it made it to the archive anyway"

Wow, that is a neat shot, their, wonder what year that was? Looks right out of the paint shop.
I might have posted this before, following the train with Track Time.

Very nice! I'm a big fan of the fresh paint look.

I was thinking this trip was with the Geo-car, imfo for the merger. BN wanted to look at the track geometry right before the merger.

Neat photo William, that orange and white passenger car was hard to miss ! In case you ever wondered what caboose was in the pic, it is 1268. Perhaps I have spent way, way too much time studying images of 1200s when I can identify one from just a partial image.

That was a big deal at the time, everybody wanted to impress the BN. That's neat that you know the caboose. I may have a few more, I will dig around.

Good stuff out there tonight but I am losing everything, which is a shame because it would be destined for the Archive. :(

Just save them to your computer, then add them to the archive a few months later when nobody is looking ! I have built a massive 1200 caboose image collection using that strategy. I paypaled a donation a day or two ago, did you get it ?

It's not the same as having the slide scanned into a large format image.

I know Charlie, those high resolution scans are awesome, I was joking around anyway. Did you see my recent post on the 1288 slide on ebay right now? Unless I hear someone wanting to get it, Im gonna try and get it.

Paul, if you want to bid on the 1288 go ahead, I'm bidding on the 1275 & 1306. Just a heads up bid more than $20.00 otherwise you might get sniped at the last minute. That a**o is notorious for grabbing one at the last second.

Thanks Roger, I will be setting a last second bid for the 1288, I intend to get it. I will stay away from 1275 and 1306. When I do get the 1288 slide I am donating it to your collection to use on the archive. I have a question about slides, can a slide be used to create a large photograph? I know that may be a dumb question but I really don't know. thanks !

Yes, it can. You can actually download any large format image from the Archive and have a print made from it in large format. I had a few 8 X 10s printed from some favorite Archive photos.
