      Addition/correction
It is the Lyman Gibson Bennett Collection
      diary Aug to Dec 1861
Of special interest, the bridge colums info begins on page 44
Additioal ready info, Rolla is MP 110.6, elevation above sea level 1093.8
      Newberg is MP119.1, elevation 710.
Beaver Creek Bridge is MP 116.4 and 154 Ft. Long
Airport at Ft Leonard Wood and City of Dixon, MO have almost the same elevation.

Brad, if you will google "Lyman Gibson Diary - Aug to Dec 1861"
you will find the entire diary. Very interesting!
Apparently the grading was done from at least Rolla to Arlington prior to the Civil War but the track may not have been completed until after the war? The Army Surveyor thought this was rough terrain. Hope you find his remarks.
I was unaware the pillow had fallen into the Piney River. I think a Frisco RR Officer pointedit out to me maybe in the late 1970's?
My thinking it and the pillows at Beaver Creek may have been built about the same time?

      Brad,
This happens a lot. Most people think it is Sloan or Sloane. I am originally from Missouri. I was born in Rolla. Dennis Slone
