It was called the Parsons Subdivision in 1971. The subdivision at that time came from Arcadia through Pittsburg and Cherokee to Parsons and ended in Dennis.

      Bob,

I'll try to send you the pictures. They certainly tell a story. I'll post a thread and see if I can get any hits. Was there a name/designation given to the main line track?
Cherokee to Cherryvale line? If you're out to the plant, look me up and I'll show you the original pics.

I can't really say. This is the first that I have ever heard of this. What a find. I sure would like to see the pictures. I am trying to think of any one who might know. I am unable to bring anyone to mind. This might be a great topic for a thread on Frisco.org. I wonder if this track was put in by the railroad would it have ever been in a timetable. I only have time tables back to 1971 and I know the track was gone long before that.
I am going to be interested to see what you can learn about this.

      Bob,

The pictures actually show a siding parallel to the main line, maybe 100ft south, that runs from just east of Gate 3 almost all the way over to Trego Rd. There was a spur that ran almost straight south for several hundred feet about half way between Scott and Trego Rd. It appears that these two pieces of rail were put in so that lumber and materials could be dropped off in the area just east of Gate 3 before the line running down to 200 Area was put down. Do you think the Government would have hired Frisco crews to install the track that attached to their main line? Thanks for the help.

Are you talking about the siding that is south of the present gate 3? I thought you were talking about something on the north side of the perimeter fence. All the trackage that is or was inside the perimeter fence was built by the Government. The siding on the north end of the plant was used to switch cars for the north suspect barricade that was just north of 1 road. The Frisco entered the plant from a gate that was on a very tight curve just to the west of where the guard shack was at gate 3. thye took cars all the way across the plant and left them in the yard. You are correct that the Frisco line that ran east of the plant did go to Cherokee. To the west it went through Dennis and on to Cherryvale. It crossed 160 hwy (old) near Bender Mounds. Hope this helps.

      Bob,

It appears that the main line of the SLSF stretched between Cherokee and areas west. It just happened to pass along the north edge of the plant property. Pictures I have show sidings built onto the plant property just south of the perimeter fence. However none of the drawings we have on file show the sidings. I don't know if they were built by the SLSF or if the Government had them built as temp sidings. Thanks for the help. And thanks for the welcome.

I have heard in the past that Brownstone was a stop on a trolley line that went out to the River from Parsons. I have nothing that proves this. This would have been before the plant was built. Get ahold of John Chambers. He is on this board as mvtelegrapher. I am sure he knows more about this than I do.
      Welcome to the group.
