Hello from the small town along the rails, in the heart of the Frisco League conference. I have been an educator in the Frisco league for many years and looking to learn more about the history of our small town.
Shane, I grew up in Dixon and currently live here, as you mentioned our sports was always focused around the Frisco League. Although I have never been able to completely confirm this, from what I understand the Frisco League originally encompassed towns from Newburg to Stoutland. The teams would travel to the other towns largely via train in the early days, I would suspect this would have been somewhat challenging to schedule games around train arriving and departing. Obviously as roads improved and local travel transitioned to vehicles the schools no longer relied on the railroad but the name stuck. Eventually encompassing communities that had no connections to the railroad. Is this exactly how it happened, well that's a good question, but I enjoy this version and most anyone who would know any different is long since gone. Brad
