  1. Well guys. At long last it’s pretty much done. I started this pre pandemic. But I have shelved it a time or two for other projects. But this is close to done. I didn’t even have to use vacation days to work on it before StL RPM in a couple weeks. I’ll share some out door pics sometime. It has rained 72 hours here so there’s that…..anyway here it is. Hope you like it. Gimme thoughts if you have them. Steve

Well Steve, you're showing good progress.

Perhaps one of these days you can learn to add details and then you'll be a very good modeler.

  6. Thanks Drew. Glad you enjoy an odd project.

Andre, thanks I’ll work on that. Next time instead of just adding limes to the bottles I’ll make sure they have seeds. LOL

    thanks again

    Barbacoa and Big Red here.

  12. Thanks guys. Glad you all approve. It was fun even if it drug on. It will be interesting to see the public reception.

Tom, in the construction world here it is mostly Hispanic, that’s actually no where near enough bottles or kegs for the guys I see. Ha

    Thanks again!

oh btw the way mine would be chorizo, nopales and a green Jarritos!

A few updates for Workshop Day this week:

I was able to get some time in over the weekend to work on decaling the four most recent car builds. Some of these only have one side complete. Working a few hours during the week to get the decals to lay down. Maybe finish them up and ready for weathering next weekend.

Bitter Creek Models 36-ft boxcar w/decals from K4 for the Iron Mountain. Painted this one with the Tru-Color TCP-139 (MoPac Boxcar Red).

Bitter Creek Models 34-ft Boxcar with K4 decals for the MJ&KC:

The Westerfield inside stake wood coal gondola (Westerfield has the decals for this one):

And finally a bit of a fake, as the ORER does not show this car series as a steel underframe car, but detailed this Accurail car as a FRISCO billboard car from the custom set made by Precision Design. I will put ACF archbar trucks on it before I weather it.

The next project will be another custom decal set from Precision Design. A K-C. F-S. & M. straggler from the purchase of that line. I found this postcard on eBay and purchased it to serve as a reference. This is a 34-ft car and the earliest I could find this car number was in the 1904 ORER.

I also worked on the trestle for the new layout section. A curved, ballasted trestle over "Lightning Creek" was being installed on Saturday, but discovered that I had made one too few pilings. The additional one is gluing up on the workbench and I hope to get this installed and ready for water pour in the next couple of weekends. I will put some modeler's putty under the pilings such that they are not floating in the air. Again, apologies to the civil engineers on the forum.

Also, a bit of progress on the AMB's Dill's market...destined to become a saloon for the mining camp.

OK, well that's it for this week. Hope All are well,

    -Bob T.

I like the way the word mark is set up on the Jackson car. Was that a real road at one point?

Also like the KCFS&M Car with the Frisco herald. I may have to make a more modern version of this at some point.

The trestle looks fantastic. Can't wait to see the finished scene.

    Thanks Tom,

I am trying to have enough to host a 1908-ish operating session. I think I am up to about ~15 cars from this era. I think with a few more of those gondolas I will have enough to start.

    Thanks Ethan,

The MJ&KC was indeed a real railroad and in 1905 had less than 20 locomotives, about 60 boxcars, and about 350 flat cars. I was also attracted to the herald. There were only 11 of the 34-ft boxcars at that date, but hey, close enough for another neat car for that timeframe. Raymond Breyer posted this picture of the 36-ft car on the "Pre-Depression Era Railroad Modelers" Facebook page earlier this year (1905 picture, confirming the herald is from that timeframe).
