Washita River / Lake Texoma Crossing - Bridge 618.9 - Lakeside, OK, MP 620.2 - Sherman Subdivision

    Hello.

My name is Jack Robertson and I was wondering if anyone had any photographs on the Frisco bridge over Lake Texoma in Oklahoma?

The bridge was started in 1942 and was finished in 1943. My grandpa was part of the crew that helped built it over the Washita River between Kingston, Oklahoma, MO, MP 610.6 and Lakeside, Oklahoma, MP 620.2.

    My e-mail is:

Edit 2/1/2024: The bridge consists of one 250'-0" through riveted truss (TRT), eighteen 39'-3" deck plate girders (DPG) and fifty-one 60'-8" deck plate girders. The bridge sections span poured reinforced concrete bents. The total length of the bridge is 4,050'-8" or 0.767 miles.

The bridge was constructed when the Washita and Red Rivers were impounded to form Lake Texoma. The project included relocation approximately 30 miles of railroad to higher ground to prevent inundation by the newly impounded lake.

Added bridge narrative, river (now impounded), bridge number, mile posts and subdivision.
