Don't know any details, but it could be a 2/3 - 1/3, or 3/4 - 1/4 tank car, containing one larger tank and one smaller tank of such a volume split. The step platform along the top side of the tank along the domes indicates such a split does exist along the two compartments. I've never seen such a tank car, but the length of the side platform configuration indicates that there are two compartments of such a volume split.

    Any other ideas?

That’s about what I thought. A nice weekend project for an old donor 10000 car. If you can get a spare dome somewhere, and some rivet decals for the separation line.

Too bad can’t see the reporting marks. This is a frame from a 1954 school film about trains.

  4. Details Associates used to sell single domes separate. Not sure if anyone else does. It would be a neat model to build if there was a little more info or pictures. Thanks for sharing that anyway.

One thing for sure; it's not a Frisco car.

Should it be for me to ask about it? The knowledge here is vast.

Could be a reconfigured tank car - a one of a kind for some oddball two liquid compatible shipments with one compartment much smaller than the other. Build one.

ps - I had one of those Detailed Associates domes - never used it. It's either sold, or still in my parts boxes.
