The Ash Grove Sub had APBS signals before the CTC was installed. Within the context of this discussion, it was not a dark railroad. The Sunnyland and KC-FS died Sept 17, 1965. The Southland died Dec 8/9, 1967.

It was, sort of. Following the bloodbath of 1965, the KC-FL Special was re-christened the Southland, Trains 101-102.

I dunno, Greg... The Southland felt more like The Sunnyland than the KC-FS

If I recall correctly, one of the Frisco E8 painting diagrams in the "Racehorse" livery was based on the Comanche name.

Well, yeah, although it did reintroduce the sleeper for a short time beginning in September 1965.

The "Pullman" lasted until February 20, 1966. The Frisco and ICC agreed to a 40% occupancy rate as metric by which the ICC would let the Frisco drop the 14-4 “Pullman.

    FWIW:

Just received an answer from Rapido concerning my inquiry as to whether Rapido is considering Frisco E8's in the Racehorse/Redbird scheme. Their reponse: "For sure!"

    I'm a dead duck.

Andre, please ask Rapido if they would consider making E7 Texas Special locomotives for N and HO scale.

The Rapido is making some really nice stuff, kinda pricey, but very detail oriented.

I wrote and thanked them for not doing any Frisco as it saves my modeling budget for other stuff. I was hoping for a HH U25B.

    Their response :"
    Hi Robert,
Thanks for your email and kind words. While we haven't announced anything Frisco recently, it's quite possible we will have something in the not too distant future!
    Best regards,
    Jordan

  11. Kato is taking suggestions on their website. I would suggest anyone interested in a HH U25b to fill out the form there.

I have had other friends do it also. Make sure to mention that they appeared in 2 demo schemes, 3 Frisco schemes, Union Pacific and patched Conrail units. This provides a bigger customer base. I also emphasize how many UP diesel era modelers are out there.
If we all do this it may work someday.

    thanks, Steve

The Oklahoman went to Lawton on dark territory (Chickasha sub).

Too bad they chose one of the EMD E7 (2000-2005) numbers / names (SLSF 2003 / Steel Dust) for use on an E8 unit. In addition, the units incorrectly include a dynamic brake fan. The Frisco's E7 and E8 units did not have dynamic brakes.

Also, cannot locate any photographs of a unit with white outlined gold lettering combined with the later yellow Frisco and unit number.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks!
