I received notification from member Richard Wilkens, of the following:
    "Keith,
These 14 boxes of material and four large equipment ledger books are at the Pacific Northwest Railroad Archives (PNRA) in Burien, WA. Burien is a few miles from Sea-Tac Airport and about 15 miles southwest of Seattle. The material had been at the archives at Jackson Street Roundhouse in St. Paul but as they did not want it, and several of us thought it was too valuable, it made its way to our archives. The PNRA has four railway history organizations as members and these are the Northern Pacific Railway Historical Association, Great Northern Railway Historical Society, Cascade Rail Foundation (Milwaukee Road), and the Spokane, Portland & Seattle Railway Historical Society.

I'm including an inventory of the 14 bankers boxes and there are also 4 binder post ledger books about 18" x 24" with each about 3" thick containing info on the equipment going back to at least the 1920's up to the BN merger.

As to shipping the collection, you are looking at over 500 pounds.

As to Frisco_Org, I have been looking through the various forums and I will post some samples of the material we have.

Also here is a link to the PNRA: http://pnrarchive.org/_layouts/15/start.aspx#/SitePages/Home.aspx

    Yours,

    Richard Wilkens
    Vice-President, Pacific Northwest Railroad Archive
    Archivist, SP&S Railway Historical Society"

Attached are the files he sent me.

We on frisco.org, as a group, need to determine how we are going to act on the availability of these materials.

I am willing to contribute funds for shipping if the material is of interest and there is a way to digitize.

This sounds like a gold mine of historical information for the Frisco. The Fort Smith Trolley Museum would really like to have it. Unlike many libraries, the Trolley Museum's library is very accessible for research. Depending on the volume of the materials, it possibly could be housed as a separate collection. I think that most of us were unaware that such a collection was still in existence.

I would like to see this collection come to Fort Smith. Shipping can be possibly be arranged, but donations would certainly help.

What do folks here think about that?

Ultimately, the collection should probably end up at the Greene County Public Library, Local History Section, Frisco Collection. They have an on-going program to digitize all the Frisco materials they receive and post them on their website. I would prefer that they get to someone directly associated with this forum for examination and possible scanning to be posted on this forum before going on to the library.

Hopefully they will be preserved and accessible for research.

Have we made any progress on getting this collection moved out of the PNW? I know I'm late to the game here, but I would be happy to pitch in however needed to help save this collection.

The forum has been pretty quiet about this subject.
Has any progress been made? I haven't contacted Richard Wilkens yet, but the FSTM is still interested.
