You're lucky they just hit the internet/tv. We have a lot of problems with them severing gas lines.

 

Don,no matter what stage your project is in the craftsmanship is something to behold. Amazing work. I love seeing in progress shots. They are a learning tool on the process people use. Thanks for sharing them. They are a motivator whether you plan them to be or not.

A quick post here....I have been working on adding circuit breakers to about 4 power districts on the layout.

These are NCE EB-1 breakers (DCC) which have adjustments for trip current levels, the ability to add an indicator LED off-board, and levels for startup currents for sound loco power draw.

The item I wanted to share was finding these neat stand-offs for the circuit boards. I have been looking for a solution for these for boards under the layout for a while. These are "STARVAST Game Console Motherboard Plastic Mounting Feet Pack of 50, L Type PCB Fixed Standoffs PCB Circuit Board Insulated Spacer with 100pcs Screws". (from Amazon)



I am going to refit these for the turnout control boards, auto-reverse for the wye, and the raspberry pi for the JMRI control. I am hoping to move to a DCC++ command station that is coming out from kickstarter: FireBox: A Tiny DCC Train Controller.

Neat stuff guys as always.

Here is a few of mine from the past couple weeks. Actually some Frisco stuff this time too!
I could never find any real info on the 1240 sky blue paint scheme searching here. I would love to know how long that lasted or if it was a paint shop screw up. Anyway, discussing it with my dad one day he had never seen the picture in the archives and media here. I showed him and since we are both fans of oddities he said he wanted to have one of his Hallmark wide vison cabooses painted that way regardless of how long it was painted that way. So here you see 1240 in all her ugly sky blue glory. I did no modifications to the model other than adding glazing which is still drying at this point you can see. I mixed up what I thought was the right shade of old ladie's Buick blue and sprayed a few light coats over gray primer and used Vallejo red for the cupola. It needs a little more work but it is close and its still wednesday when I posted!!

 

Here is another couple I am wrapping up.

 

Almost done with 806 also. I had a scare with the paint here. I had it done in black and when I started to mix paint to fade the black some how I ended up with a tube of waterbased oil and regular based oil mixed which as I started to cover the body turned to a coagulated paste mess. After a LOT of thinner and rubbing I saved the paint with out having to totally start over but the waterbased tube went in the trash and I checked every tube I have for any others. This just needs some touch ups and number board decals which I hate doing!

What are you using for DCC presently? I'm curious about this new system.

 

I installed a decoder and worked on the tender trucks on my Powerhouse 4-6-2. They were very draggy. It runs better now, but I may replace the tender if I find a good replacement.

The heat shrink that fit over my connectors was bright yellow, unfortunately.

I also worked on a Roundhouse Old Time 2-8-0 kit, trying to get the kinks out. I want to remotor, but finding a can motor small enough is a problem.

 

One more here:
I took these pictures last spring in Marion, Ohio. Here is the start of the 1/87th version.

 

I have usually used a Digitrax DCS 150 or the DCS 52 (Zephyr) when set up temporarily. This new system would be mounted on a commonly-used section (MoPac Interchange). The new system is not yet released, but should work with JMRI on a Raspberry Pi, such that I can have control attached to the layout under a module. I would then just use the Digitrax for setups with a couple of sections and testing, etc.

I think it looks promising. I built a DCC++ system, but it can be a little buggy at times.
