Just a few questions which you experts will probably know.......
Were all of the Quanahs Russian 2-10-0's oil fired and are Oddball decals still doing Quanah decals?
I can't get the e-mail that Tom gives on his site for C/C orders.
    Thanks
    Steve:)

The QAP Bolsheviks were oil fired. Oddballs is effectively no longer doing business. Do not send him any money. Search oddballs on this site for further details.

If you need any Oddballs decals, inquire here, some of the folks here might have extras...

Thank you both-I sort of guessed the Russians were oil fired from the photo's in Don Hofsomer's book.
What a pity about Oddballs,I wanted some of his Quanah decals-only bloke who did them too.
    Thanks again

    Steve,

Regarding Oddballs QA&P, I have all three, all HO, all unopened in their original packet:

1 set, 87-940, wood caboose (two small white marks in the black of one QAP herald)
1 set, 87-941, wood boxcar, steel ends
2 sets, 187-283, GARX QAP insulated boxcar

All are available, and have been stored correctly in my decal drawer. I'll sell them at Oddballs last price, which is what I paid - $5.00 for HO scale decals. The 940 and 941 were ordered just before Tom started into his troubles, so they are fairly recent. The 283's are also relatively new, having come in the order prior to my last one, as I didn't order any QA&P decals until late in the game (vs SLSF, where I still have most of them in stock).

I've always regarded Oddballs and Microscale as my two favorite decal providers - they always went on nicely and looked very good. Use both Micro-Set and Micro-Sol, in that order. Too bad Tom has imploded, he had a very good product.

Regarding shipping, I've sent things to the UK with no problem via USPS Priority Mail. I have their padded envelopes and can pack them inside protective cardboard. We'll have to check the cost.

Let me know what you want to do, your call. I'm not looking to sell decals, but if so, I'd like to move all of them rather than sell them piecemeal.

Absolutly fantastic-I'll take the lot.If you give me the full cost plus something for your time and effort,I will get the money to you by which ever way.
As an aside,I just looked up Jerry Glow decals, seems to me he's taken on Oddballs inventory, his CGW one's and Quanah are exactly the same.
I have a lot of CGW and a few Champ MKT should you be interested.
    Thanks again

    Steve -

Great! I'll do some research on the cost of getting them to you. Send me a PM (to meteor910) with your mailing address in the UK.

I have purchased several of Jerry Glow's decals, but have yet to use one. Nonetheless, they look pretty good.

I have a huge inventory of decals - Walthers, Champ, Microscale, Oddballs, Herald King, Glow, yada yada. I used to decorate cars for others, plus I sell off a lot of my own when I get tired of looking at them (I don't have much of a layout), but have really slowed down. I'm going to have to do something with all the decals ..... and all the unbuilt, and half-built, kits!

I'll get back to you via PM this weekend. Thanks.

I don't know if they would be of any use to anyone, but I have the QA&P decal in delux gold that came with the Hallmark Americans years ago. I lettered mine for the Frisco so I don't have any need for them if it would help somebody out.

Just curious about anyone having any Oddballs decals for the QA&P, especially for the Frisco GP7 from set #180. Anything on doing a O/W GP-15-1 (ex SLSF #107, BN #1382) also lettered for QA&P under the cab numbers?
    Thanks!

I have an question, what type of crossing signals were present on the QA&P during the 60's? Was it mostly crossbucks apart from paved highway crosssings?

The ones I remember are as you say, cross-bucks at rural, private, or industry on dirt roads, paved had the flashing lights on either side of the road, there was a cantilever crossing at a paved road just west of Paducah as I recall, the xing at Lazar, bottom of Pease River hill, and the main HWY at Paducah (US 83) had roadside flashers. These could have changed over the years too, I was gone from QA&P country by the early 1970's. I was not familiar with all the xings on the "Q" just the ones I was frequently around.

One last minor question what was the maximum track speed on the line during the 60's?

    Sure,
The QA&P was non signaled territory (no ABS/CTC) unless otherwise explained in the System Time Table for the FWD/CB&Q/BN/BNSF interlocking at Quanah and FWD just west of Acme. All other territories on the QA&P was max speed 49mph, this may be different nowadays as the former QA&P is now another MT at these approx mile post locations between Quanah and Acme.
