I heard today that St Louis has lost their chance for an NMRA Convention in the foreseeable future since the next number of years are already set for other venues.

  2. That sucks. I was hoping it would be a good fill in for the England NMRA convention that is now cancelled. I never got the point of that decision anyway. Might be able to save some cash on a membership for the foreseeable future when mine expires? With no conventions or none remotely close to me.

The next NMRA convention will be held in Santa Clara,CA even though it is a year from now they will be faced with the same situation as St.Louis in regards to the Covid- 19 pandemic.
If they will see that the quantity of reservations to attend is not acceptable, they will probably cancel it as well. We can only hope that things will be back to normal by then.

I have heard that St Louis has been given a reprieve to host the NMRA Convention in 2022. I hope it will happen so that some of you will get to see John's layout in person. Pictures are great but they still don't do it justice.

If true, that's good news. Absent the reprieve, I imagine it would have been some time before NMRA got back to St. Louis.

That's back in the times when boxcars were really neat. Nice job John.

car blocking chart for yard crew 001.jpg

Here is a car blocking chart for the yard crew. Each square has the industry name as it appears on your way bill car forwarding car cards. The number of cars allowed to each industry are below each square.
If there are more cars to each industry, the yard master will take additional cars and spot those in available space in the yard and to be put on the designated train on the next session.
The maximum number of cars in each train is 17 + caboose. The colored arrows are the train # and name and the direction it exits out of Lindenwood Yard. All through freights stop at Lindenwood and drops off and receive cars to its destination to West Yard(Springfield staging) or Chouteau Yard (Chouteau staging). Max. cars 17 + caboose.

The color bars on the car card are the same as the blocking chart arrows, therefore there should be no confusion (Unless you are color blind).
Comments from yard operators thought the system was easy to understand and thorough.

Love the pics, John! Thanks! Must be wonderful to have a layout to that state of completion.

Maybe "one of these days" mine will start seeing some scenery going in.

I'm working on this car right now. I'm struggling a bit with running the layout for the brake lines and train line. The photo in the instructions is kind of dark. Would you mind sharing a photo of yours?
