Looks like the boxcar has windows and has been made into a bunk car.

    Tom, thanks for sharing.

That second photo is a neat perspective - rather indicating what it must have been like to wait train side at Newburg.

I know very little about Newburg, but I think the "Texaco" style depot remodeling job came either during WWII or post-war?

I will leave to the more knowledgeable Newbergers to narrow down.

    Best Regards,

Also note the steps below the door.

Chris is correct; the depot is a "WWII era structure".

I am on the road and away from my references.

They are plenty of Eastern Division folks who can put date on it.

    Karl,

Great catch. I missed that. Yep, you are correct.

Has to be later, around WWII or possibly the early 1950s.

Just surprising with the arch bars still on it.

But if the car never moves, what is the worry?

    Thanks!

Don will have to confirm the details, but I believe the Newburg depot was remodeled into the "Texaco Station" version shortly before WW-2.

It was torn down in 1973.

Best I can tell, they ruined it sometime very early in WWII.

  8. My dad was going through some photos the other day and I spotted these.

They were from my grandma's collection we need to sort and scan.

Thought some of you would enjoy them though.

    Wonderful pictures!

Thank you so much for sharing them.

The telegraph/telephone pole pictures, is that Newburg also?

Appears to have a different depot in the first picture, so wondering if you know the location of those pictures?

    Wonderful pictures of Newburg!

All you need now is a picture of the "Texaco Station" depot to make it a complete collection.

Agree the telephone pole pictures might be at a different location.

The background views do not suggest Newburg to my eye.

And the depot has different features.

As I have often said, during the steam era Newburg was the Valhalla of Friscodom in my opinion.

I like the old "barn" best.

I think it was originally the Fred Harvey restaurant, later became the depot and then was remodeled into an ugly box.

  13. My dad and I discussed the mystery town/depot in these.

I will ask tomorrow if he figured anything out.

Heaven forbid he post here! HAHAHA
