The May 2019 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman has a column by Mike Schafer and Bill Navigato about operating session and operating schemes. I found out by surprise that a picture by Otto Vondrak of me dispatching Mike Porter's CGW was included in the column.
BTW, Otto is the new Editor of Railroad Model Craftsman.

Some people just gravitate to the limelight. BTW, operated on Bill Navigato's new CP&S railroad a week or so ago. It is truly an impressive layout.

Steve Priest's move to Tennessee didn't work out. He's back in K.C.

This is true. The nature of the job was not what he had thought it would be and the distance and time away from Cinthia was too great. He will continue to do product development projects for other manufacturers on a contract basis as before, but he is looking into another form of primary employment. Cinthia will continue as editor of NMRA Magazine. They are looking to sell their present house and downsize.

I am not sure, I don't believe it's been published yet.

Thanks. Cinthia might have passed on it as Don Strock did publish two volumes of "The Diesels of the Union Pacific, 1934-1982" at about the same time as her Volume One.

The Knoxville Area Model Railroaders have a large club space at the Oak Ridge Children's Museum. We have nine layouts with op sessions on most. The larger, of two, HO layouts hosts weekly operating sessions every Tuesday morning. The track plan is a folded dog bone with reverted loop staging. It is operated as a N-S railroad connecting Louisville and Chattanooga with a division point mid way in Knoxville. A LOT of Frisco cars and power are run. Here are photos I took this morning of two of the four trains I ran with AT&N/Frisco RS-1 109 on two and Frisco GP-7 599 on the others. The RS-1 even pulled a passenger train, like they did years ago on the A&M. I also included two photos of an Army GP-10 (prototype @ Ft. Wood) from an earlier session.

  9. Great pics Doug. Fun seeing that old power put to a good use. Is the GP-10 a factory decorated unit?
