I grew up in New Iberia Louisiana. As a young model railroader I was very interested in the Missouri Pacific branchline there. In the 50’s I couldn’t understand why older people there kept calling it the “Frisco “. It wasn’t till much later I found out that it had been built as a Frisco venture originally and that the Gulf Coast Lines acquired it in 1914 when B F Yoakum’s system fell apart, to be subsequently acquired by the MP in 1925, and was abandoned in 1986.

Although the MP is my primary interest, and I model aspects of what I saw as a kid, I like the Frisco and its beautiful steam engines, and run several Frisco engines on my layout.

Welcome Aboard, Pat. My home town of Cape Girardeau, Missouri is on the Mississippi and had a restaurant, Petite N'Orleans, that featured Creole cuisine and my maternal grandfather's ancestors immigrated through New Orleans, so there was always a link to Louisiana in my past. The layout that I am building features your two favorite railroads.

How are things in the home of Tabasco?

E1FEDC29-88AA-44EC-A02E-1588A7863A15.jpeg I’m going to try uploading some layout photos. I seem to be having problems with uploading more than one and with them being upside down.

We probably all bought that Spectrum model. A young (teen) member of our Knoxville club even has one. Here's mine a little out of focus.

    Patrick, welcome to the group.

If it makes you feel better, I am a so-called "administrator," and some of the photos I take on an LG Tablet that I use upload upside-down. Or, perhaps there's no solace in knowing that!

At any rate, welcome aboard. Enjoy looking around!

    Best Regards,

Pat, don't worry too much, I've seen a lot of EM upside down.

  12. Pat,
I think the upside down is called a "accelerator problem".
Web searching that may find the cure. It is a little chip.
Web search your brand, others, rating of products
that may help to know how others rated the products.

Other members have had that situation also.
Some of those may be able to help.

Anyhow, it looks like you will be active.
    We will enjoy that.
    Welcome aboard Patrick

The thing about my layout is that it is rural, like my favorite branchline was. I think I have 9 structures on the layout and that will be it, no more.

I’ll see if I can produce and upload a track plan but isn't much, 50’ of point to point “mainline” in two rooms, between two interchange points with two rural set out/ passing tracks intervening.

It’s my rookie adult layout, at age 18 life intervened for 41 years. I’ve made a lot of mistakes and might soon tear this one down to do a better one.

Can some one explain the media forum to me? If I select something in “random media” and exit it, it can’t be found again. And supposedly you can doctor photos in it? What is the purpose of this forum and how does it work?

Also, things from previous posts get “quoted”. I can’t figure out how to do that. I’m from the telegraph age, not the digital age.

I don't know the answer to your first question but to quote someone click on the reply button. Hope this helps you with part of your post.

Media is not a forum, just a collection of items uploaded by members. To find an image again, it is helpful to have noted the contributor's name, and keywords from the title, although that doesn't always narrow the field all that much, as there are 2.5 gigabytes in 11 categories, 243 albums, 5,429 items

    FriscoCharlie has posted 1,546 items

To find something, try the Search Media function:

    https://www.frisco.org/shipit/index.php?search/&type=xengallery_media

It also works to bookmark an image in your browser.

Welcome fellow Louisiana member. I was born there and have a lot of cousins in Lake Charles and the Beaumont area, but I grew up in Arkansas.
Someone will probably "upright" your photos - I would if I had "edit" privileges!
Are you using a windows based computer?
Do you keep your photos in a file - and post from that file?
Do they show correct orientation when viewing thumbnails?

    Patrick,
I will let an admin explain a couple of your questions.
Are you upoading your images via a smart type phone? If yes they will often be upside down, I dont know why. Several people use Microsoft Office Picture Manager. When I transfer images from my phone to this program they are often upside down, but easily edited in that program, and when uploaded to the site they remain correct.
I am sure there are a number of other programs that would work.
