Had surgery on Jan 25th. Went well though I did spend an extra day in the ICU. Apparently after the surgery the body has to recalibrate things (fluid balances). That took a little longer than planned for. Pituitary tumor is gone. Confirmed by the follow up MRI. No loss of vision, or motor skills or mental lapses (at least ones that weren't already there ) . Didn't hit the carotid artery, always a plus! Since I was in a hospital bed with an alarm, if I moved too much, for 5 days (fall risk), one of my joys was to try to keep up with Frisco Friends. Mobility and balance has improved since I arrived home and can walk every half hour. Praying for my pituitary to recover (they were able to take all the tumor while leaving the pituitary, albeit flattened by tumor). Tumor removal removing the pressure on the optic nerve disappeared and has ceased the excess growth hormone production. Even if the pituitary doesn't run up to proper standards, hormone replacement therapy can help restore a lot. Bye bye andropause, acromegaly and hypothyroidism. Thanks All, for the prayers and well wishes. Shouldn't be too much longer till I can get back to work on the project.
Sorry to keep bringing the topic up for your sake and mine, but I nearly want to shout for joy. Had my PCP appointment today and was it music to my ears. PCP (not the drug, the physician) has determined not to restart me on metformin, Actose, and hydrochlorothyiazide for my blood sugar levels and A1C have turned normal and I haven't even started the post surgery hormone balancing process with the endocrinologist. Less work for my liver and pancreas. Don't have to constantly test blood sugar. The list goes on but you get the gist of it.
Halfway thru the average recovery time. I'm going back to work Monday Feb 11, my choice. My job is not overly physical, so I can do it safely enough, I drove enough this week to make sure I could drive safely too. Built a blue Frisco PS-1 boxcar (General Mills service) this afternoon, including a set of Kadee ASF-3 trucks I purchased from Ken Wulfert. Felt good to make some modeling progress.
