I really don't understand why the images rotate sometimes or how to fix them here.

I had to shave and shim the coupler mounting pad. Looks like it'll work now.

Took a pic of one of the interiors painted cream color. Yes Ken W., they are from you.

Have to do this to three lightweight passenger cars.

    Wonderful!
FYI, I'm working on another Pullman car for my heavyweight passenger train (which I kept!). See, I did keep a few things!

I'm either early for the next Wednesday... or still late for the past one... but over the past couple days, I've managed to piddle along off/on and got my KC&G steam generator equipped F7A ready for paint... or so I thought. (I forgot something... so it will need to go back out to my work bench and I'll need to add the missing item.)

    Here's a pic...

The above photo is a repost from my "Small Tank GP7" thread... but hey... it's progress and this is the Workshop Wednesday thread!

As of this morning, I'm already workin' on my remaining Atlas Classic Gold GP7!

    All fer now.

Well I'll be... I get to another model to Workshop Wednesday!

Borrowing the pic from my "Small Tank" thread, here's what I accomplished over the course of the day:

Completing this one makes both of my Atlas Classic "Gold" GP7's assembled and ready for paint!

Still have to set the coupler height, but managed to get one finished. Interior painted, body mounted Kadee couplers installed, metal framed and sprung trucks installed (with adapters). I've been pleasantly surprised by the interest of a number of older family members and friends who are following the progress, reminiscing about times passed.

I may need to build a small photo diorama just for posting roster shots. Lol.

I' ve been busy since my last post!

I now have both of my Atlas Classic Gold GP7's modded and assembled. I also have a pair of Atlas Classic Gold RS-1's that I've modded and assembled:

    KCnG_RS1_e.jpg

    KCnG_RS1_d.jpg

Even placed a temporary drag chain on one to see if I like it. (Chain's links are too big, and I doubt that I want to deal with mounting it. Still, though, I do like the looks of drag chains hanging on engines. Got to have a couple of 'em with drag chains... just haven't decided which ones.)

BUT... like the Ronco commercials of old... but wait... there's MORE!

I also took my remaining four (yup, count'em, FOUR) P2K's out to the workbench and got them pretty much ready for paint. Here's an example of their current state as of a few days ago:

    KCnG_P2K_GP7_4.jpg

Along the way with the P2K GP7's, I stole an idea from the Frisco and modeled one missing a side box cover...

    KC&G_GP7_2a.jpg

AND... as of yesterday... my Kato RS-2 went to the workbench for modding/assembly. No pic of that as yet.

    SO... over the past week I've readied: 2 Atlas GP7's, 2 Atlas RS-1's, 4 P2K GP7's, and am working on a Kato RS-2.

See? I been a busy lil' bee!

    Ain't 'chew PROUD?

A pic of my in-process RS-2. Made myself a bending jig and some templates so I can make a batch of my scratch built sun visors I prefer to use. (Durability.) You can see two styles of visors laying in front of the engine, along with some pre-bent mount wires... and the .005" brass sheet I use.

    All fer now!

I have Ken W. to thank for that. He had already purchased the truck upgrade as well as the interior. I just had to convert to body mounted couplers. That took a little bit of internet 'searchin' n surfin'. I did buy extra trucks for additional units.

It helps the car performance a lot.

    Right you are!

Painting them will be a process... a LONG process. My paint schemes and weathering are tedious operations. Probably run two at a time through the paint/decal process.

  15. My dad took a few pictures of some past workshop Wednesday projects on his club layout. thought you guys might like to see them in action. I do wish several of the doors were open on the U boats like a real Frisco locomotive would have been.

Here's my most recent project for a Christmas gift; a triple crossing. This was not for my layout, but for another under construction locally. Only the single line crossing the three will be active. IMG_4509[1].JPG

Here's a book page with a photo that shows what it's for: Ottawa Junction and a map I found. I built it for Chuck Hitchcock for his new layout centered on Ottawa, Ks
