Gotta be tough to get old. It ain't for sissies I tell you.
The older I get, the better I used to be.

I'm feeling pretty good today, the ribs are all healed up and the back is feeling much better. Went to see the doctor for a follow up on my back yesterday. He said it looks great and told me to come back in four weeks. The appointment was about ten minutes long.

I think I will work on my layout tonight!!! It's been a long time.

Steve, Will do!!! I will post photos in the morning. There is a method to my madness. lol

I'm going to work on the yard, modules 02, 03 and 04. Will start installing ballast tomorrow, a job that I really dislike, but it has to be done.

The official name of my layout is "Boston Mountain Sub-Division". Would one of the administrators please change the title of this build thread to reflect the name listed above?

    Thank you in advance!!!

Last night I started making trees again. Altogether there was twelve trees made, don't know where to install them yet but won't be hard to find a place. I want a lot of trees on the layout, some with fall colors on modules 08, 09 and 10. Tonight I plan on installing foam for hills on modules 05, 06, 07 and the north end of 08.

It's been about three weeks since I gave you guys an update. I've been playing around with foam on modules 05, 06, 07 and the South end of 08 to make hills and mountains. Will post photos when I'm finished.

Here's what I've done so far on modules 05, 06 and 07 with the insulation foam for hills. I know it's not much but at least I'm having fun. It won't be long before I add ground foam. Also bought a new keyhole saw to cut foam and a spray can of flat black paint to apply to roadbed and track.

Just finished installing a few pieces of foam for modules 07 and 08, their not complete yet but will try to completely finish later this evening. Next step is to blend the foam layers to smooth out the rough edges with a keyhole saw. I have some rubber molds for rock castings to place in the appropriate areas.

Great Joe, glad to see you back at it. Have you been able to run any trains yet?

    Merry Christmas buddy!

Dale, I haven't run any trains yet, ran out of yellow insulated rail joiners. The yellow ones seem to be made from rubber and the opaque (white) ones are made of hard plastic. I have trouble installing the plastic joiners because my fingers don't have enough strength even when I use pliers. Having problems with finding more yellow joiners. Somehow I will work though the track problems, hopefully it won't take long. In the meantime I am working on other projects to make progress. There are plenty that need to be done thankfully. Such as ballast the track that is already done, install foam for hills and mountains, start doing the electrical systems, install facial boards on the layout. The list goes on and on, you guys know what I mean. A layout is never completed, there's always something to do, that's what makes it fun. I'm having a blast. LOL

Thank you to everyone who has checked out this build thread, hope you will continue watching. Your input is greatly appreciated.

    Merry Christmas to all.

I made more progress on modules 07 and 08 this morning by installing foam for mountains. Now it's time to blend together the layers with a keyhole saw, it's a messy job so out comes the shop vacuum. Whenever I turn it on the dogs run to the other room, usually they stay with me when I'm working on the layout. Guess they like model trains also. When I was building my double track layout Nina sat on a blanket at my feet, Gabby wasn't born yet.

I went to see the doctor for my back and got a great report. The doctor said I could lift medium weights 35 to 40 pounds and my back looked great. Only problem I have is some pain in my legs, especially the right leg.

I bought some material for the curtain to replace the closet door that was removed a while back. It will hide the staging area in the closet. Still need to draw the ROW on module 01 for approach to staging area.
