Ron's Books has a 12 page diagram book listed for $27.00.

There is no description beyond that and no author listed.

Does anyone have a copy of this book, have seen or heard of the book, or know anything else about it?

I do not know if it is the same, but there is a guy that goes around to railroad shows with reproduction books like what you are talking about.

I kinda wish I had got one at the show here.

They are nice, and maybe 16" by 20".

Yes, it's the same guy and it's called the Industrial Archaeology Series.

All sorts of books on steel mills, coal mines, depots, etc.

BUT, I cannot remember the guys name or the name of his business.

He comes to the Jacksonville train show.

I also wonder if it isn't just a series of prints right off the Library of Congress's drawings that are available online?

But, I have been noted to be wrong before.

    Ok, that's what I thought.

He makes no bone, he will tell you it's a copy. It's good paper and good quality printing. They are very well done.

I seen him at Deland, Florida. He was only at the one show, and that was a while ago. If he comes back I will get one this time.

Unfortunately I limit my spending at shows, I had already shot craps.

Just as information, this guy came to Deland show this weekend and I got the book for $30.

These are heavy card stock, says University of Kansas Recording Project, 11" by 17", 14 pages.

His name is Dal Cook, Mohawk Design, www.mohawk-design.com, (336) 207-5975.

These are very nice and he say's he is coming out with two Frisco Engines, no not steam.

These appear to be the exact same prints.

If you want them printed on like a heavy card stock you might want to order from the guy that I listed.

In any event, they are the same.

I have a picture of the Beaumont KS water tower taken in the late 80’s or early 90’s. It was still there at that time. I don’t know if it is still there.

There is or was a grass air strip about a quarter mile east of the Main Street. We landed there on a trip into see a contractor for the day. At the time the old Beaumont Hotel restaurant was a place to fly into for a lunch. We landed on the strip and the went through the gate on the south end of the runway. Taxied west into town and parked by the water tower. We had lunch with the contractor and then went out on the job. After we finished up, we taxied out of town and took off. The picture I took of the tower showed a bent prop hung on the side of it. All this in a Beech Baron twin.

I will look around for the picture and if I find it, I will post it up here.

It all made for quite an interesting trip.

Everything is still the same except there are no tracks.

There has been a lot of restoration work on the water tank and am not sure, but I believe they have painted the logo on it. They have built a depot like replica building for a town's civic center and have of all things, a Santa Fe caboose. Need to find some Frisco stuff for them.

Within 5 miles is the old cement overpass that has the "Frisco Lines" on both sides.

    Hi Tony,

When I was out there Kansas 96, I believe that is the highway number, was being paved and 4 laned.

At the time, there was not an iron fence around the tower that I can remember, but it was quite a number of years ago. The water tower was just standing there. I remember because I took the picture because we had the plane parked next to a water tower.

Quite a contrast in technology. l looked it up last night after I posted, it’s quite different from what I remember seeing at the time.

I do remember that we were putting a twin into a short grass strip and it felt like we were landing between the traffic on the old highway. We had 1 passenger in the back and he did not know we were landing on grass.

We heard quite a squawk when we landed.

    Thanks,

    Dale

The landing strip is about the same. Makes you want to stick your feet out for more braking.

Back in 1964, I was a student pilot and a friend took me over there in a Cessna 172. When we left, we went south and the timing was perfect, although accidental, as we passed over the engines, and not by much, of the westbound Frisco train. Quite a thrill and at the time I did not know what the Frisco was.

Oh if only I could do it again.
