    Chris,

    That would be northbound.

The station was apparently relocated to the west side of the track sometime after the 1915 Sanborn map was made.

I think that is actually U.S. Highway 61 through town at the left of the photograph.

And notice the weedy team track behind the station, great for modeling.

    Indeed, you are right Ken.

Do not think I paid close enough attention last night.

I now realize that it seems evident that

    a) there is a bit of the E8A cab in the photograph, and

    b) the vantage point is considerably higher than what one would get from the back of a passenger car.

Thanks very much for catching this.

    Measure twice, cut once. :)

    Best Regards,

I recall once when I was a sales representative, I pulled over at the depot and watched a long Frisco freight going northbound.

I was coming back from Memphis in the evening before I-55 was completed.

That would have been 1970 or early 1971. It was fun as a good break from the drive.

U.S. 61 Highway was not fun to drive in the dark.

From Richard Crabtree on Frisco Rails Across Missouri.

Here we see the northbound "Sunnyland", train No 808 as it eases to a stop at the Frisco depot in St. Marys, Missouri on April 16, 1963.

    Is that a Mercury?

    Nice looking mid-1950s car.
