A couple of my friends gave me some old Train stuff because:
    1. They know I like Frisco
    2. They know I like "Old Junk.";)
    3. They know I like free.
    Here's what I got--

    Cabeese:

The one on the left is an OLD wood Silver Streak kit (check out the ring coupler). Not sure if it will work for Frisco--I've been looking at pictures and I can't find a match. Not sure about the one on the right--I have an old Trainset (AHM/Roco) caboose with the same body, but the underframe is very different. I think it was painted and decaled by someone who did a nice job.

The others are some old Athearn (I think) Texas Special cars:

Can this stuff be used, or should I put it on the display shelf?

I think the passenger cars are Lionel, made in the early '60's, but the castings are Athearn.

Great for you I say!!! If they think enough of you to give this to you, that really is whats important. Sometimes it is the thought that counts.

My friend went to a flea market and found this old wood kit rekitting itself. He paid $1 for it, and all he wanted were the trucks, so he removed them and put some old Athearn trucks on and gave it to me. No doors , ends, or roofwalk, and it needs some repairs, but I like it. I have (plastic) doors and ends, and I can find a roofwalk.

Gary, I think it'd be close enough to one of the ex-ATSF Frisco cabooses with renumbering. If you're feeling more ambitious, then plate over some of the windows, remove the roofwalk (depending on prototype) and it'd be great. Otherwise, I think it's close enough as-is.

    Best Regards,

Yes, I think it's close enough. It needs couplers, but, hey, we've got a blizzard going on here right now so I'm staying inside today...

The wood caboose, I'm not sure what the prototype is. I've been poking around HO-seeker lately. The wood boxcar is a Silver streak, and I think the caboose is, too.

Me too. We have an informal group that meets at a couple of larger layouts friends are building, and we look out for each other. We share stuff that we find, tools, skills, etc. One of my friends is a 90-some-year old WWII vet, and he doesn't like to drive after dark, so I pick him up and take him, so he's always looking for stuff for me.
