Attached is a pdf file of what is the basis for another Railroad Model Craftsman article sometime soon. UPDATE: It will be in the February 2021 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman.

Thanks Keith. The SoundTraxx Ap Note from years ago requires filing away part of the frame. They even used the Frisco model.

Keith, I like your techniques with the LEDs.

Thanks for the kudos, I take great pride in my work. I try to be the Toyota of decoder installers.

  6. Looks good Keith and you make it look easy. I will defer to you doing it though. I think I would make one heck of a mess out of it.

That's nice work. You say another RMC article? Have they published other articles by you? I stopped reading them a few years back; I thought they folded.

So far I have only one article that I had submitted for publication. Stephen Priest, RMC Editor, is a good friend of mine and is constantly hounding me to write for him and has tried to convince me to start a regular feature monthly. I have a couple more nearly ready to go, and when I submit them they will get published. I am working on one that is the exact install needed by the reader whose questions to me were published in the January issue; an Athearn Blue Box SW1500 (actually an SW7).

Gary, you really should check out RMC since Kevin Eudaly (another friend) of White River Publications bought it, the magazine is now light years ahead of where it was with Carstens.

I may give it a try, then. I enjoyed the magazine and subscribed for a few years ten years ago or so. Model Railroader wasn't very good then, in my opinion. I drifted away from the hobby for a few years and let my subscription lapse, and since then I've read MRH more and used forums.

I liked that RMC had more emphasis on modeling--I really liked Ted Culotta's Essential Freight Cars--though it did seem to have more problems with typos and errors. I remember when they featured Howard Zane's layout, but the cover had "Harold Zane" on it. Ouch!

And Rodney Dangerfield thought he had problems...

I got word that my article on SoundTraxx Tsunami sound installation in the VO series locomotives will be in the February 2021 issue of Railroad Model Craftsman.

That will make three installation articles in RMC. November 2017, January 2019 and February 2021.

  11. Good stuff Keith!! Is Stephen back with RMC? Like mentioned above I enjoy it but it is tough to find here. They paid good and quick compared to others so I hope they keep it up.

Looking forward to it, Keith. Maybe I will do the next one myself!

No, he has pulled back from the publishing arena and is focused on a new project that I probably should not share just yet.
