I'm not too worried about copyright problems with a relatively generic scheme like the Frisco's, but I don't want to jump in and duplicate a project that someone else is still working on. I'm certainly up for contribututing to one that's still in progress. Otherwise, I might try to put something together myself. I've been coasting with the passenger decals, because I need to modify some numerals and letters to meet their minimum stroke thickness for printing. I don't expect to break even, but I need to do it while there still might be a few people interested.

OK .. I'm forgetting where, but I saw a decal set made for "The Texas Special" in HO .... now to remember where?
It may have been at that circus decal place?
What passenger set are you working on and scale?

    Sherrel -
Microscale has HO decals that will work for the Texas Special E-units. A couple of things are wrong, some lettering is white where it should be silver, or vice versa, but otherwise they are workable. I don't know of any other TS loco sets. My E7 SLSF 2003 used the Microscope decals and it looks terrific. My favorite E-unit. As far as I know, the Microscale set is still available.
Several firms have done TS streamlined red passenger car decals for the TS, both Frisco and Katy. Oddballs, Walthers, Champ, to name a few. I think I have most of those if anyone is interested.

    Ken,

My next project was to make up a few of the streamlined red and silver cars. I would be interested in some decals, I have 5 cars that I want to paint and decal.
Let me know what you have and want for them.

You can PM if you wish,
    Thanks Matt

Don't see any "Frisco" names for the car side upper ends, just "Katy" name decals on the Circus City set.

Sirfoldalot, post: 68827 "What passenger set are you working on and scale?"

I've drawn up the lettering for the heavyweights. They could be reproduced in any scale or color, but I personally have been wanting them in the Dulux Yellow used in the 50s and 60s. I spent quite a bit of time pushing and pulling control points to get the serifs right, and I think they look pretty good. Unfortunately, some of the smaller features have to be thickened up to be printed by Microscale, and probably anyone else, so I need to do some alterations. I've never found another railroad font that is exactly like it, but many look close at first glance. I would expect the diesels to be more straight forward.

Ken ... I apologise! I didn't even look close at the "names" on the decals. I'll crawl back into my cocoon now!

No need to apologize, the "Circus" decals look pretty good. It's just that the Texas Special sheet looks like it is Katy oriented. No "Frisco's" for the car ends, and, I'll have to check all the car names, but it looks like the majority, if not all, of the car names are for Katy cars. I see Pasadena Hills on there - I know that is Frisco (I lived next to Pasadena Hills while living in Normandy in StL).
Do they have a Frisco sheet?

    Matt -
I don't have as many TS car decals as I thought. Guess I sold some.
    Here's what I do have:
Champ PH-93: Nice decals, will do one car, lots of car names, has the "Frisco" for the car side ends, but those for the MKT cars says "MKT" instead of "Katy". Car names look to be all MKT's.
Walthers 68-80: Nice decals, but fairly old. Will do one car. This is a Frisco set - Frisco car names, and "Frisco's" for the upper car sides, los of data decals
Walthers 68-81: Nice decals, but fairly old. Will do one car. This is a MKT set - Katy car names, "Katy's" for the upper car sides. Lots of data decals.
$2.50 for each set, I'll pay the shipping. Thanks. Sorry, only enough for three cars.

Thanks Ken, I'll take the lot. Will get Money sent your way via PayPal be weeks end.
Let me know if you have any streamline Frisco decals that weren't TS. Would be interested in those too.

    Saving them for you Matt.
I do have a couple more sets. Both are very old Walthers sets, older than the ones I offered. They look very good, and I think they will work fine, using the Microscale system (warm water, Blue first, and Red second), but I don't know that. That's why I didn't offer them. Old Walthers sets do not fall apart like many decals do, but instead, they refuse to release from the paper backing. However, I've had good luck with them (using their 1970-1980 era yellow diesel stripes for example).
One set is a Katy set for the TS; the other is a Frisco set for The Meteor. I want to keep the Meteor set as I plan to do the Frisco Meteor's streamlined red/silver RPO Normandy, SLSF 251. (Normandy, Mo was my home town during high school years - it was always neat to see Normandy as part of the Meteor's (#9) consist when we would go down to the depot as a study break during the MSM Rolla days. She is at the St Louis NMOT, but does not look so good. Hasn't been taken care of.)
Both decal sets look good. The TS set has all the correct MKT stuff, including the car end "Katy" decals. The car names are limited, however, but your other sets can augment them. If you want to give this MKT TS set a try, add $1.50 to the cost. As before, I'll pay shipping for the lot of them.
    K
ps - The Katy TS set does include a nice sheet of Katy (not MKT) heralds, even though they were not used on the red/silver Katy equipment. Typical Walthers - they usually included a lot of extra stuff back in the day. Too bad they no longer make decals.

    Ken,

Add that old Walthers set to the others, I will give them a try.

Some pictures of diver and red streamlined cars has a red, semi block font FRISCO in red. Are those decals still available? What time frame did those cars run the rails.

    Thanks,
    Matt

Matt- I hope we can see some images of your modeling efforts using Kens decals/parts. And thank you Ken for seeing the need to accumulate all the decals, parts, books, images, knowledge, opinions and backgrounds for saving this stuff for the past ?? years. I know you, have kept a bunch of my meager projects going, just using your parts/decal "stash". Good to see your vision of the possibilities maybe coming to fruition.
Matt- I am glad to see you doing this.

  18. Tom, I will second that thought. Ken's fire sale has given me a whole bunch of projects past present and future. I appreciate it for sure and the info that comes with it. I enjoy pumping life into some projects that were on hold from both Kens basement and my dads.

Ken I am always interested in diesel detail parts. Any and all makes and models. I would much rather buy from you then ebay. I'm not really sure how to go about an order or your inventory. Maybe I send money and you send a random box each month like jelly of the month. HA

    Steve -
I am still fairly well stocked on Detail Associates and Details West stuff, less so with Utah Pacific, CalScale, Overland, and Kemtron/Precision Scale items. Some other odds and ends also. I'd suggest looking through the Walthers catalog for these brands and let me know what you might want.

The Kemtron, Overland and CalScale items are quite nice and often no longer available. I've had them for years - mostly steam parts, but some diesel also. As they are smaller in number I might just list them when I have a chance. Very nice Pyle headlights to go with those Frisco number plate/ headlight brackets for example!

Tom Holley - Matt has confirmed what I thought - he has the Alco/EMD RS-2m you did, SLSF 553. Frankly, now that I have the stock RS-2 you did for me, SLSF 554, I regret selling the RS-2m. They would look neat together. Oh well, I can say the same about many of my models that are now elsewhere!
