Fascinating! Thanks for your efforts towards solving my little "history's mystery"!
You contribution, along with Bob Dye's, help to locate the station called Globe at 4.4 miles from the one in Monett and a Station No. of 278 (which seems to coincide with the distance from St. Louis, rounded to the nearest whole number). I'm curious as to what the "Telegraph Office" column indicates with entries like "D", "DN" and "T" and will continue to try to find the resource to define the abbreviations (thanks if you know off the top of your head).

Ah... I found a table with the "Services" column and things are becoming a bit less muddy for me. Thanks again!

Perhaps this is the opportunity for me to raise an additional question, as it might be related. Could the Globe Station actually pre-date or have previously "out-serviced" the Monett one... from the era before the RR moved from Pierce City in favor of Monett? The follow-up to that is, "What happened to cause the move from PC to Monett and when"? I'll continue to search the site but, to steal the catchphrase from the old, Bartles & Jaymes commercials, "Thank you for your continued support". ;)

**EDIT... PC vs. Monett detailed here... http://freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cappscreek/monettnews.html ... no mention of the Globe, MO station though!

    John -
Welcome to the group. You're bound to either find more about Globe than you imagined, or will be pointed toward some good resources.

Don't think I've seen "Chattanooga Choo Choo" by Glenn Miller yet. And, since it represents one of our layout's interchange roads, I'll add "On the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe." I'm a little more fond of the Johnny Mercer version but still enjoy the classic Bing Crosby rendition. I will most definitely second Tim's nomination for anything by Jimmie Rodgers.

    Best Regards,

I few golden oldies there... music of that style really knew how to "accentuate the positive", don't you think? ;)

The replies of this group have made me feel very welcome. You are all appreciated! (is there an emoji for "aw shucks"?) lol

Salem Missouri's own, the Dillards, sang one called Reuben's Train. While at SMSU 74-76, I was partial to a band called Gaskin's Switch. I'd catch them at a bar that was located at Seminole and Glenstone.

The City of New Orleans by Arlo Guthrie for number 1 (never cared for Willie nelson), and my number 2 would be Wreck of the old 97.

Just before the turn of the century, Globe had a 55 car-length passing track, and passenger trains stopped on flag. No telegraph office is listed in the ETT.
During 1904, the Frisco added a second main track between Peirce City.
The 1907 list of stations gives E Coombs as the ticket agent. No telegrapher.
Starting during 1909, automatic block signals were installed on the Eastern Division (STL and Monett). The project was completed during 1910.
During 1921, the Frisco extended the second mainline to Globe.
The 1926 List of Station, shows that globe has no operator/agent
FEM's show an operator at Globe beginning circa 1927.
1930 ETT's show that Globe was a 3-trick agency. No doubt, Globe served as a train order office to control the end/beginning of double track.
During 1944 CTC was installed between Nichols Jct and Monett after which the Globe TO office was closed.

I have not been able to find a depot plan in the B&B records.
Some place in my stack of digital files, I have an image of the TO office at Globe.
Globe never had any engine servicing facilities

    ♫"Spectacular, Spectacular

I've looked with Google Earth (https://www.google.com/maps/place/M...57d19f4112d872!8m2!3d36.9289502!4d-93.9277071) where I expect Globe to have been (I think there's a "Century Farm" right down there, too) but see no evidence of the track nor structures. Maybe I'm not looking in the right spot or it's simply all gone (or I'm just not seeing)?

    Thank you, Karl!(y)

One must also remember that at least as far as the Frisco was concerned the "station"(in railroad parlance, a station is a place and not necessarily a building), Globe, changed.
Until 1921, the passing track, Globe, was at MP 278.1
With the addition of the second mainline during 1921, Globe, which became the end/beginning of double track, the location was "moved" to MP 277.6
Sometime between 1959 and 1963, the second mainline was cut-back, and Globe was moved to MP 279.1. No doubt, the discontinuation of the Texas Special and the general decline freight traffic levels led to the decision to make this move.

If you look at the satellite image, whose link you posted, and scroll westward, you will see the present location of Globe, where the end of double track is located. Eastward from present day Globe, it's evident that the roadbed held two tracks.

I'm guessing here - since Globe was half way between Verona and Monett, I'd start there. There was a siding at Globe, so there maybe still some evidence of that. So, if one looks at the Farm Road 1120 rail crossing, there is some evidence of two tracks having being there. Soooooo, maybe in that area?

Thanks again to you and the entire community here... I've obviously come to the right place!

...Wait a minute... that's on the back of Mike's place! I'll have to go ask him to peek over his fence someday.

BTW, you might notice Kelly Creek listed just south of the tracks. What you see is a dry gully that typically only runs during deluges and floods. The "real" Kelly Creek (so I understand) is an underground river and is the source of water mentioned (and scoffed at) in the "PC vs. Monett" link from a post above. Monett used to have such sweet water (perhaps due to a slight lead content) and, until the 1980's (I think) there was no city water bill. Water was free to your home in the city limits! Now, I'm guessing that if you started filling swimming pools you'd be billed. ;)

Here's a favorite "train song" of mine... originally a Curtis Mayfield & the Impressions song... it seems fitting on MLK day!

I guess this'll be my #2. It shares a similar theme?

Just a follow-up to show how the location of Globe has changed over time.
I have annotated a Frisco Track Chart and a Google Earth Map. I have used Roger Taylor's Google Earth "Frisco Layer" which shows the track alignment and the present location of Globe. globe_track_chart_annotated.jpg
Track Chart-Eastbound from Monett the track climbed a moderate moderate grade to Globe(277.6) Given the notation on the Track Chart that between 279.08-279.14 132 lbs rail was laid during October 1959, I am inclined to believe that Globe was moved to its present location at that time. MP 279.08-279.14 is the location of the turnout at present-day Globe.

    globe_1900_plat.jpg
1900 County Plat-County Plats are prone to errors, but this tends to support the location of the ante-1921 passing track at Globe.
