I'm the grandson of a Frisco welder/steam fitter. My other grandpa retired from the ash grove lime plant in Galloway.

Welcome, Douglas. Do you know where your grandfather would have worked? My guess would have been at the Springfield Shops.

    Best Regards,

Yes the West shops. He was hired in I think 1934 and retired in 64 . I'd have to look up his card to be sure.

Funny you mentioned Frisco knowledge. I thought I knew some, but it is amazing how much knowledge is locked up inside these electronic walls.

I am thankful for these folks as I know, if they write it down or download it, the Frisco will never die...

    Welcome Aboard!

PS - I grew up in Southern Hills and used to ride my bike down to Galloway or the Battlefield Mall for something to do. Both my parents' funeral services were in Galloway. Special place for me.

I know that part of town very well. I grew up about 1/2 north of Glendale High School off of Ingram Mill.

My bike rides were to the Brentwood Library, or just down to the tracks in Southern Hills. I saw plenty of coal drags (in the BN era) on the Ozark Branch, but not much else.

I'm a little younger than you are. Glendale Class of 1994.

My brother Pete graduated from Glendale in 1986, so you overlapped with him at least a couple of years.

Glendale Baptist Church is actually right across Ingram Mill from Cambridge Terrace, which is the neighborhood I grew up in. My parents still live there.
