And wines are like model railroads, they shouldn't be kept bottled up; they should be shared and enjoyed. The best ones you want to spend a lot of time with.

    Amen to Keith's comment.

In years past, while we lived in Cincinnati and then in St Louis on Lynnbrook, I had a fairly large wine cellar myself as Caroline and I both enjoy a nice wine. I've let that go a lot over the 31+ years we have lived on Portland, and now only keep a case or two. My thing now is to find really good value cabs, pinots and zins for $10 +/-. It's not hard to do with the help of a good wine man at your outlet. We have just such a resource at Schnucks Des Peres. The man is a wine genius! Gonna have to work hard to replace him in Naples!

We close on our Frontenac (St Louis) home of 31 years- 3 months tomorrow; we signed all the papers today. Caroline flew down to Naples later today; I hit the road in her stuffed-full VW Touareg tomorrow!

    Later - Ken

Ken, just a quick note to say thanks & that the caboose book arrived just fine. Got home from Wellington this morning & found the package on the doorstep. Wish they would do a Frisco caboose book like this one. Thanks again. Roger

Anybody heard from Ken Wulfert on his way to stormy Florida?

Hey Tom! Old Ken is doing just fine. Had a safe drive down to Naples last Thursday and Friday in spite of several bits of chaos on I-57, I-24 and I-75, in particular around Nashville, 'nooga, Atlanta, and Ocala, plus some heavy rains. Our move down went well, although I have never seen so many boxes, and we did have some slight damage to some furniture. Nothing serious (yet!) All my boxes of train stuff fit into the storage room OK, and I was in there this morning getting organized. Some eBay time is coming.
Naples was largely unaffected by Matthew - we have had some heavy rains stimulated by the hurricane, but little trouble. There are a lot of east coast Florida folks here as they came over to get away from the storm. Thank goodness the impact so far has been less than feared. Could have been terrible. Sunny with some clouds here today.

In our new home in Naples, FL, but still many boxes. Hooked up to the net at 100 mbps. Ready to frisco.org chat again. I have many of my books and files down here (not sure I can find them yet!), but few models. I'm officially out of the model RR hobby, though there are a few projects I want to finish up, but I look forward to being an active armchair participant.

As I drove out of StL last Thursday, I saw three trains in MO and IL. I thought "what a good omen, I'll see some RR action on this drive". Never saw another one, even in Paducah or Chattanooga, where there is always something going on. Saw lots of crude oil tank cars on the sidings in "nooga" however.

Gotta bone up on my ACL/SAL background here. They both served Naples at one time. The original ACL line still runs down to Bonita Springs, just above Naples, but service is rare. The Caloosahatchee River draw bridge is still there - wonder if it still works. Naples has done a very nice job of preserving the SAL/ACL depot here as a museum. Very nice. The SCL, of course, was a major run-through partner of our SLSF as well, so there is a connection to build on. I sold off most of my ACL/SAL HS bulletins, but I'm going to retain my membership - it is a fine organization. (Right Buck?)

Didn't the SAL maintain a pretty healthy interchange with the Frisco at Birmingham, not to mention taking Pullmans from the Frisco onto Jacksonville? Sounds like a nice match to me.

Glad that you all are okay down that-a-way. My uncle moved to Broward County from St. Louis County in August 1992...about 1 week before Hurricane Andrew moved through. He very nearly moved back to Missouri. :)

    Best Regards,
