Love it! I wish there was an HO scale kit for that bad ¤¤¤ steam tractor. Any thoughts on scratchbuilding one? Hmmm.

  3. Hmmm. Guess the Frisco took door to door deliveries all too serious:p
It would be cool if the traction engine had a coonskin number plate and a red roof.

In all seriousness, why would a boxcar be travelling like this, was it recently sold off to be a farm outbuilding, or did it derail(it looks in great shape though).

Keith at Wiseman Models has the tractor, spot on. I can build and decal the car. Might make for an interesting scene on the branch line, eh, Jim?

Manny, thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I've just ordered the steam tractor kit as I've been wanting an old steam tractor for the layout. It's absolutely perfect and will be one of my favorite models. Wiseman Models is a great source for detail stuff and I'm sure I'll buy from them again. Thanks! And thank you, Timothy for posting that old photo. It was a true inspiration. You never how posting a photo may motivate someone. This will get me out of my modeling slump for sure.

That boxcar is sitting on 1/2 the wheels it rode on the rails with. It looks like the opposite side wheels are making a groove, but the near side seems to be leaving no trail or ruts of sorts. A great photo for sure. Looks like that boxcar is headed to a farm for a storage facility huh?

Here's the tractor kit I ordered. Should be a dandy.

Jim, I have seen tractors just like this one listed on EBAY all the time, usually run about $32.00 for the kit.

Here's a post I found from a model chat group about old tractors:

[There is a company (Scale Structures?) that used to make a whitemetal Case traction engine kit... AND there were kits for a Holt traction engine and an Iroquois steamroller as well...The Case has something like 100 parts, so they are kind of pricey when you find them. Woodland Scenics has/had JDs and Fordsons as whitemetal kits, as well as stationary steam. Look in your Walthers catalog, or MRR, RMC or the NGSLG, for current availability and prices.]

Wow. I received my Wiseman (ex-Scale Strucures) Case steam traction kit and all I can say is Holy Cow. I'll start a build thread but man, there's a ton of tiny white metal parts and no written instructions. I've built many white metal kits over the years but nothing compares to the complexity of this endeavor. This kit is not for the faint of heart. Timothy, thanks for starting me down this project path.
