Re: Sad news regarding Richard Napper. I woke up, I can’t believe it. So terribly sad to hear. I have visited with him via internet, but never had the chance to meet him. His knowledge base on modeling, whether it be electronic, scratch building, or painting, of all things Frisco was astounding, he was a true Master Modeler, in title and skill. His presence will be missed. He will leave a big void in the lives of the people he knew, as well as the people didn’t know. Rest in Peace Richard. My condolences, to his family, and his many, many friends, such a sad day for us all. Tom Holley
Re: Sad news regarding Richard Napper. I didn't personally know Richard, but from what I saw on this site he was a very good man with a great passion for the Frisco. I pray for his family and friends. He will be missed.
Re: Sad news regarding Richard Napper. My condolences to Mr. Napper's family and friends. He did a lot to make information about the Frisco available to all of us. I hope that we are able to keep up the good work he started. Bradley A. Scott
Re: Sad news regarding Richard Napper. Ditto what each of you have posted. Richard was one of the really good guys and a lont-time supporter of the FMIG. He was also MMR 196.
Re: Sad news regarding Richard Napper. So many of us appreciated his articles in the Meteor and his work at conventions. Richard will be missed.
Re: Sad news regarding Richard Napper. Condolences from a long time admirer of Richard's passion for the SL-SF.
Long-time Frisco railfan, historian, friend and Master Model Railroader, Richard Napper will be sorely missed by his colleagues, friends, acquaintances and family. Richard was a humble man, but proud of his Frisco heritage and a staunch supporter of everything Frisco. He leaves behind a large legacy of modeling, electronics and publishing that few ever accomplish. I found this link on the PenwellGabel Funeral Home website which contains Richard's obituary, as well as a guestbook to write messages of memories, condolences, etc. If anybody wants to leave a message for the family, it's there. High greens and clear track, old buddy............see you at Grand Central.
Richard was always there to help, he was one of the first people to step up when asked when I held our first Frisco convention. He was also a member of the Heart of the Heartlands. He was generous with his time when it came to the promoting the Frisco, his favorite railroad. He will be missed. John Chambers
As a personal remembrance, when I first discovered FMIG thanks to Tim Cannon loaning me old newsletters, and subsequently discovered that there was a Frisco online presence in the mid 1990s, there were four individuals who graciously welcomed my initial, eager inquiries for a slough of specific Frisco items and information: Doug Hughes, Mike Corley, Karl Brand, and Richard Napper. In Richard's case, he promptly mailed me copies of his "Caboose Kibitzer" article on the Frisco's Combine #844, along with everything else he had on the car. I'm sure it was a small act of kindness for him, but for a "newbie" to the Frisco group, it is an act that I still remember, and still greatly appreciate. I only regret that I never got to say "thanks" in person.
I feel very honored that I received a large scanning from him of Photo's for our 1352 project. I just got that in mail a month ago. We'll treasure every photo and I'll make sure in this next newsletter he gets the credit for sending us photo's that have not been seen in a long time. Best Regards, Steven Harvey President American Steam Railroad
Re: Sad news regarding Richard Napper. I appreciated the knowledge and information that he shared with us through this forum. About two years ago, I began using one of the Eastern Division timetables that he posted as the basis for my layout operations. My prayers and condolences are with his loved ones. Pat Moreland, Union Mo.
Richard's article on strip wood staining just got published in the May issue MRH. His talent lives on!
Yes it does. I am presently having a decal set made up for a LaBelle passenger car and it will bear Richard's name in memory of this gentle, humble, but extremely awesome man. He is so missed. God's Speed Richard! Keep the coal down up in Heaven.
